Ralph just looked at this photo, and he said he wondered if they were some kind of a red potato,
26 Jul, 2012
Val I've just had this vision of red crisps LOL ...
27 Jul, 2012
Oh no don't fancy red crisp do you, when he said red potatoes he meant the one's with red skins.
27 Jul, 2012
I know what you meant Val , I was kidding you LOL ...
27 Jul, 2012
Imagine something as lovely as that giving you sustenance as well! Wouldn't mind a few of those tucked into the flower border.
27 Jul, 2012
never thought of spuds in flower, thanks for sharing!
29 Jul, 2012
People do plant colourful veg into the borders here Lori especially if they have a small garden , some things you don't think of Fran unless you live in a farming community like us .. :o)
29 Jul, 2012
Val we have found out from the farmer that the potatoes are called ' Maris Peer ' :o)
2 Aug, 2012
they're a nice variety, but I'm still pining for King Edwards - don't seem to be sold round here any more

Brilliant, thanks, now if I see them in the supermarket I can they are my friend Amy's potatoes

Thanks Fran ,I love the description of the potato on that site ,I've copied it for Val ...
Maris Peer is an egg-shaped salad potato with cream flesh lifted by honey and primrose. The skin peels off easily when cooked to reveal a pale cream flesh.
The aromas of the cooked potato are of freshly cut grass, a meadow freshness with a hint of citrus, finishing with notes of sweet butter.
In the mouth the Maris Peer potato has a fresh, clean appeal. It is medium bodied, with a subtle, elegant expression of flavour, with undertones of cream and butter and highlights of fresh green peas and asparagus. It is very well balanced in the mouth, with a long finish, or ending, to the complex flavours. The texture is firm, and holds its shape well.
Doesn't that sound delicious ?
So we have Val's Yorkshire pasties and now Amy's potatoes LOL.. thanks Val !
You can still buy King Edward pot.seed to grow in your garden Fran but they have gone out of favour with farmers , new varieties are less susceptible to disease ....

I have only a pocket size garden, everything in pots or torughs. I only use plant potatoes that have started sprouting before I got arouind to eating them - or even, the last time, when I'd got them home from the shop! - so I just chuck 'em into spare pots and hope for the best.

Amy fancy going into buisness together,
7 Aug, 2012
Well you have fun trying Fran and with a little bit of luck finish up with something edible !
LOL why not Val , it sounds like a good business venture my spuds going into your pasties .. :o))
7 Aug, 2012
there are websites that have smallholdings for sale ...
8 Aug, 2012
Are you trying to encourage us Fran ? :o))
8 Aug, 2012
lol why not? A GoY commune ... sounds good to me. And the rest of us can come and have working holidays in harvest times
9 Aug, 2012
What a lovely idea Fran wouldn't it be fun ,I remember harvest times as always being hot ,our legs scratched and bleeding from the corn stalks while we chased rabbits with a big stick while they ran from the combine .. needless to say we never did catch one LOL ...
9 Aug, 2012
all it needs is for several of us to win the lottery - it's my turn this week, so who's up for the millions next week??
9 Aug, 2012
Well lucky you Fran , I never win at money things , it would be lovely to win just enough to make life comfortable without thinking of the future wouldn't it ?
10 Aug, 2012
as they say, money can't buy happiness, but it can buy security and peace of mind, which are pretty good substitutes!
10 Aug, 2012
I agree with that !
10 Aug, 2012
lol or at least one can be miserable in comfort!
