The Garlic is the strongest Dd ,yes TT lots ! it actually depends on which area you are walking in when you are approaching the Lily of the Valley you can smell them before you reach them , the bluebells are the most dominant with yellow flowered Lamium growing in amongst them which look very pretty together ... yes Dawn / Carole it's the same Bluebell wood as last year it's one that draws me back each spring :o) it has Marsh Orchids growing in it as well you have to know where they are we always get a little lost and then it takes us ages to find them ,I keep meaning to take a stick of chalk with me :o))

Yes Lori except you are lucky enough to own your wood and it's on your doorstep , this wood is approx 4 miles away from us .....

The British Isles have been developed for centuries...we in the colonies tend to forget that there is "Common" land. Is that the case with the "wood"? How are things like public access handled now that the UK is part of Europe?

Lori the wood has been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest it is managed by J. Cheetham under a plan agreed with and grant aided by English Nature and the Forestry Commission ,it depends on where the S of SS of Interest is as to the public being allowed ,some places are locked and you are only allowed after asking permission sometimes this could even be in a persons garden simply because they have a rare Newt in their pond / bats in their loft etc. or something else quite rare ,English nature can still put an SSSI on it preventing the person living there from doing anything at all to disturb the site . ...

Good grief! whatever happened to "it's a free country"???on the otherhand I wish we could persuade our present gov't to be a little less interested in the privileges of big oil...and more interested in the endangered lakes and species. the conservatives (?) are dismantling a lot of our freedoms and rights...in the guise of streamlining gov't. it is frightening. the last thing they've tried is to get the CBC (public broadcasting) answerable to and controlled by political/gov't interests.
