How lovely,Klahanie.we have blue skies and sunshine just now,but it's bitterly cold..Some areas are expecting snow showers tomorrow..and spring high tides due in Coastal areas,may cause flooding ..not good news ! Nice to see your new profile photo,so now we can see who we are speaking to :o)

Thank you Bloomer. I am following your weather and hope that this cold front will leave you soon and spring will arrive quickly. (Fingers crossed). We had few days rain here(not cold) and the grey skies drove me crazy.

Sheila, we are still in Mexico and our view of the lake from this house looks very similar to our view of ocean on the Island (with Saltspring Island on the other side of the narrows). Except we do not see the sunset....only sparkles through the trees on the west side.
We will be leaving first week in April.
My neighbour writes me that we had very mild winter and everything is rushing into bloom...

That's good Klahanie . . . you can look forward to seeing your own garden again without worrying!

Lovely picture Klahanie. We've had a couple of good sunny days this week. We've also had slushy snow and rain mix but it didn't settle.

Thank you Linda. Glad to hear that the snow did not stay. You are getting lots of moisture . It is good for trees in the spring. Spring is on its way and I am already thinking about my garden up north on Vancouver Island. My neighbour e-mailed me that they had very mild winter and everything is pushing out. I am worried that the trees will be blooming early and the bees will not come until later.

We have two little boxes that the wild Mason bees have taken over and they hatch out very early. They are excellent pollinators too.

I will have to look into that. Our local nursery sold them last year (Masons) . I will have my DH create some of these boxes. Thank you for reminding me.

They are not ferocious little bees but they work very hard. The males hatch first and get the holes cleaned out then the females hatch and mate with the males and then they construct little mud cells fill then with food and lay an egg in each cell then cover it up with mud and by the middle of the Summer the bees all die off. They leave a legacy of mud cells that develop over the Autumn and survive the winter where they hatch out as new stock again next year.
