They are beautiful Kathy....gorgeous faces, he's very talented making these. What type of metal has he used?

I would be interested to know looks like steel as its all welded ,but how is it finished lacquer or resin powder coat .

They're made from salvage, stainless steel off cuts,and finished with a coat of yacht varnish we were told to give them a varnish once a year.

Really nice. I do hope those thieves don't come around again. If the deer were located permenantly a wire round the leg attached to an X shaped spike dug horizontally into the ground would stop them just being picked up and taken.

What I would do is a piece of chain on one of the feet and attached into the ground (concrete block the stuff you pour in then add water ) so you cant see them as you can put the turf back on top when all dry , you can get thin chain and strong, put a small pad lock on and you woudnt be able to see and then you can move when the leaves grow back to there original spot.

Sad to say but .... it happens

I worry about my beehives in the apiary as so easily taken at this time of year I have done the same with the chain and lock and attached to the bottom board so if they are moved the whole of the floor comes off and the bees will quickly be out to defend

Isn't it sad that we can't enjoy our gardens without worrying about thieves. That sounds to be a good idea of Gnarlys Kathy. I bet your sculptor could make some very attractive Giraffes too, as the welding process lends itself to their pattern......not that you'd find giraffes in an English garden though....:))

Kathy, they are lovely. I've always fancied a giant metal dragonfly hovering over the pond, lol. Good luck with securing them, difficult.

Beautiful Stag and Doe. It's awful when you have to consider about things in the garden being stolen. The more I see on the Telly about these things, it makes you realise that a small minority of people will take anything to make some money with.

We were thinking of somehow concreting them in so will use Siris and Gg's idea next year for the summer months, not that that would stop them if they were determined , there's a gate just beyond our wood that leads to the allotments, was a public footpath but after many thefts from the allotments its now closed, the allotment secretary has used bike locks and heavy chain to secure the gate to no avail they just bring bolt cutters!! guess what they've stolen three times now , the taps!! Now they're removed in the winter months.
Funny you should mention giraffes Janey that was the first thing that took our eye on this stall and this year we were all set to buy one! But then we spotted the stag first time he'd had one and thought it'd be more suited to the wood, Andrewr on here has a giraffe Maureen ;-)
The stallholders sponsored the Zimbabwean gentleman who makes these to move to the UK, he wouldn't come unless he had work, so he made these statues for them to sell at the garden shows, now he has a welding job and makes them in his spare time,he's in his garage most evenings till midnight making them, his wife's also been to university here and now has a job, well done to them both:-)
Dawn a Dragonfly would be great hovering over your pond!!, bet he could make one , know he's just finished an elephant, and last year there were some little pigs :-)

I love Stanley and Doreen,Simbad..the perfect couple,and they look so right in your garden ..What a heartwarming story about the Gentleman who makes these ..power to his elbow,and I hope he makes a good living..I'm sure the word is spreading..:o)

I had a word with John about fixing them Kathy, difficult if you need to move them around but maybe you could lift a top bit and pour in sand or even concrete, then weld the piece back down. I have John on the case to make me some look-alike sandstone mushrooms - using NoseyPotter's technique - I'm waiting still ......

Thankyou Bloomer, Hubby made me some reindeers from logs that are in the wood just been giving them a bit of Christmas decor lol, ribbon round the neck and a few baubles round the antlers ;-)

Sounds like Johns going to be busy :-), Robs busy cutting hedges we're getting well known at the tip three trailer loads again on Friday and heaven knows how many more when it's all bagged up, that's just the front and one side!! Looks better though.

I endeavour to keep him busy ?. We've not been able to do too much out there, rather soggy at the mo. The tip will be charging you lol at this rate. Nice to see your putting Robbto good use. You and us will never be bored ?
