Well done you Hywel. I'm no good with houseplants.

And so do I.....very striking Hywel......very impressed with all your cuttings...

Thank you all,
My avatar is a Helenium, I thought the colour suited the autumn :)
24 Sep, 2020
Yes it certainly does ... especially on such a grey and wet day as today was!
24 Sep, 2020
Yes it was here too Shirley, but nice and sunny this morning :) x

Hywel, chilly and windy all day here. I have been unable to see any photos, even in blogs, and all the avatars had disappeared! Luckily my daughter (I.T. Support!) sorted me out with using Microsoft Edge and not Google Chrome. It's all far too technical for me ... :o))
25 Sep, 2020
I have Microsoft Edge too Chris, whatever that is lol ! :D
It's good you have someone to help you, I phone our local computer shop, they are very good and got microsoft edge for me. They tried to explain why it's the one I should use but it was too complicated for me, so I tried to look intelligent, thanked them very much, and went home :)

Hywel, I'm even more confused now as you think I'm Chris, ha ha!! What would we do without these techie types?
26 Sep, 2020
HA !! Sorry Shirley, I've just realised it's you. You and Chris Wildrose have very similar avatars and I got confused lol :D
I have just told Amy about your problem because she has something similar, and I have had to edit my comment before it ran out of time.

No worries Hywel, I've been called worse than that in my time!
Yes, I have just been looking at photos and blogs and told Amy about using Microsoft Edge ... hopefully she can sort the problem out soon.
Right, I'm off of here for a while as I'm going to use a scraping tool to get some weeds out of the block paving. Chilly but sunny and dry today ... hope it is dry where you are.
26 Sep, 2020
Evening now and I hope you were able to scrape all the weeds from your paving Shirley.
Yes we've had a sunny day but I've been cleaning upstairs lol
26 Sep, 2020
Hywel, I used a long handled tool with a sort of wire brush on the end as it works well removing the weeds. I also moved pots that were up against the house walls as we have decorators on Monday to paint the exterior.
Well done on doing the cleaning . . . :o)

Well, would you believe it ! I've just realised I also have Microsoft Edge, and had no idea..lol .I clicked on a symbol, and there it was! .There is hope for me yet ! ha ha x

Shirley I hope you've moved everything well out of the way, workmen seem to be 'garden blind'.
Sandra the chaps in our local computer shop told me I should have Microsoft Edge and explained to me in detail why that was. I understood none of it lol ... but I tried to look intelligent and thanked them very much haha
but they know I'm hopeless, because every time I go into the shop they just look at me and sigh ! :D
26 Sep, 2020
No worries,Hywel, that's their job,but I bet they can't name or grow plants like we can ! each to their own,and we get by,eventually, don't we ? :o)
26 Sep, 2020
Hywel, I know what you mean about some workmen being 'garden blind' and hope these ones will be very professional ... not to mention careful! It will be the first time we haven't painted the exterior walls ourselves.

Very clever of you, Hywel, to root some Schefflera cuttings! I've only ever seen them as plants in the shops & have never grown one. Congratulations! :)
I haven't used any MS browsers in a VERY long time! I prefer Firefox as my browser. You have a lot more security & it's largely free of pesky ads! (I think, but then I have several adblockers included in my Firefox!

Thanks Sandra and Shirley.
It had become quite shapeless Balcony so I cut it down and put the cuttings into a propagator. It was just a trial but seems to have been successful.
I know nothing about browsers and only have M Edge because the chap in the computer shop recommended it. I'm afraid to change it now incase it confuses me :D

Congratulations on your success in getting them to root!
I did something similar back in the spring. I cut my Dragon Tree back, harder than I have ever done before & put the shoots in a jar of water. In a few weeks they had rooted & I have planted all 5 up & they are making some nice growth.
I noticed that at about the same time the cutting started to root the mother plant sent out new buds & now the tree is practically back to where it was 6 months ago!
What are you going to do with your new plants?

I also have Dragon tree cuttings - it's a variegated one. I'm going to try the red one next year.
I'm going to give my cuttings to a charity shop next year.
