PRODIGAL PHEASANT?

After a thoroughly miserable, wet, morning I was gazing out of my office window this afternoon and saw a cock pheasant trot through the arch in my Laurel hedge, from my jungle/orchard. Some of you may recall my sad farewell to my pair of ‘resident’ pheasants in November. Well, this guy poked around in the lawn for a minute or so and then made a bee-line for the patio and the spot below the bird table where the smaller birds always scatter the seeds. I can not be sure he is one of my ‘lost’ friends but he certainly appeared to know exactly where he was going, so I am going to assume that he has, indeed, escaped the guns and returned. There’s hope for his mate, now, too! (The photo was not taken today!)

I can tell that picture wasn't taken today - you'd have to be abroad to get that warm, sunny look to it!
