DO NOT DISTURB

Checking around the house-plants this morning, I found that these little ladies had moved in for the winter. I moved it very carefully to a spot where I could take a photo and they do seem to be fast asleep. There are five of them! I think the plant is a Crassula Ovata (Money Plant).(?)

Thats lovely Ponty. They only come to rest in a nice happy home, so I hope you all have a lovely Christmas together. They're wise to explore a money tree! Nice bye-bye's Ladies.

Thanks all. They'll be well taken care of. At least they will not be demanding food every five minutes like Loozie the cat!

Awww...ladybird ladybird fly away home....can't remember the rest of the verse :(
Looks like you've got guests over Christmas, Ponty :))

Ladybird guests, tell me about it - they're everywhere in my sitting room and bedroom. Move a curtain further back, dust a curtain track, look in the corners near the windows, little clusters of them everywhere. My sight's now so bad that the other day I thought I was picking up a dropped currant from the floor - turned out to be a ladybird - I really must wear my glasses, lol

Have a warm sleep, ladybirds! :)
8 Dec, 2009
I wish ! as I dont even see them in my garden - think I saw 3 all summer.

Ahhhr, how nice Ponty.
I have heard that in China these plants are called, 'Happiness Trees'.
Money or happiness, you choose!
Gertie.

Hey, Drc, that's cos they were all in Norfolk! They had a massive invasion there when I was up there, you couldn't even walk down the street without choking
8 Dec, 2009
Strange that i get non though!
8 Dec, 2009
You probably did, just not many - have to say that a lot of the ones in norfolk appeared to be harlequins, as are quite a lot the ones in my home at present.
8 Dec, 2009
I have not a one here now...and did not have a lot over summer..they look very sweet there..enjoy your Christmas with them..I would be happy to have them for guests.. :)
9 Dec, 2009
I hope you've got a stocking to hang on the mantle for them? Lol
9 Dec, 2009
Bamboo, we did have hundreds, if not thousands more in the garden this Summer but as you say, they had millions in an invasion of the North Coast, about 30 miles away.
I understand the plant is also called a Jade Plant, Gertie, so that makes sense. Jade is a Chinese happiness symbol. There is surely a connection!
What do I put in the stocking Ian? :o))
9 Dec, 2009
Well we always got nuts, fruit and a little gift but Santa put them there so I shouldn't worry to much about the contents and concentrate on knitting the tiny stockings! Lol
9 Dec, 2009
In the stocking ?
..more baby money tree plants for all the baby ladybirds :o)
9 Dec, 2009
You could go out and try and find some aphids! but I wouldn't Lol
9 Dec, 2009
P'raps I'll just leave an old sock under the pot! Knitting's out!
9 Dec, 2009
Lol :~))

Ponty..We call it a Jade Plant..my Grandmother had a huge one..it was beautiful..she kept it in a room with little light and it was always cool in there..the trunk must have been 10 inches in circumfrence. I do not know who has it now, but I am sure it is still around somewhere in the family.
9 Dec, 2009
With a 10 inch trunk, how much space was left in that room Cat?
10 Dec, 2009
LOL..it was very big..it took up a whole corner window area of the room..
11 Dec, 2009
I always put my Happiness Tree out in the garden in the summer, so why havn't I got any Ladybirds Ponty?
11 Dec, 2009
It's too cold in the garden now Gertie. They've moved into the warmth. You should have opened the cat flap. :o))

I keep meaning to ask you, how are the 'ladies' doing now? I hope they are still tucked up with all this snow around.

Three are still comfortable. The other three? They appear to have gone but it is possible that they are lower down, where I can't find them.
