Primroses

I have given up my allotment as my husband cannot help me anymore and I need to be home with him most of the time, so I began digging certain plants up last year.
In early October, would you believe, I dug up these primroses in full flower and potted them up. Now they are still in full flower and not one flower has died . How weird is that ! I haven’t touched them at all or watered them. Has this happened to any of you ?

Lovely to hear from you Rose and to see your Primroses. It's uplifting to see them so early. They must enjoy their new home :)
I'm sorry you had to give up the allotment but we have to do what we have to do. I can't leave Beryl on her own either so I can understand ...

I think they are just doing this to bring you joy! I recently bought 40 wild primula vulgaris as plugs to plant at the base of our hedge outside on the roadside. I’m growing them on in the greenhouse in coir pots right now. They are one of the best sights of early spring aren’t they. I love the wildflowers! I did have some primulas flowering in October, but they thought better of it as soon as November arrived!

Lol you must be talking to them the right way Rose. You have green fingers too. They are excellent flowers to give you the feel good factor. Thank you for sharing.

Lovely memories of when the countryside hedges and ditches used to be full of them! Keep up the good work.

They are a grand sight Rose - you must have done
something right! If your weather has been anything like ours watering is the last thing they need, lol.

Snowdrops and primroses: harbingers of Spring. Love them both.
Reckon the primroses are saying "Thank you for rescuing us", Rose.

Yes Rose, mine are in the garden and been flowering all through the winter, one of my favourites and I really don't mind when they pop up unexpectedly in a new place....

Really pretty Rose. They must like you and like where you placed them. They haven't been 'got at' either - ours have tiny holes in the petals at the moment.

Jen , my hubby is of the same mind as you ! He loves them!
Thanks Hywel ! We have to get our priorities right, don't we!
Thanks Karen ! I just love all the different varieties.
You are very welcome Sheila !
Thank you Seaburngirl, Linda and Thrupennybit !
Also thank you Honeysuckle, Steragram and Eirlys! I appreciate all your lovely comments.
Thanks Sue and Chris ! I think the primroses don't get eaten as the pots are on a table which is difficult for snails etc. to climb up !

They are lovely. One of my OH favourites and if he had his way, the garden would be full of them, he never thinks there are enough of them lol. I've never tried them in pots before but seeing yours, I might try next year. Might stop hubby complaining that there is not enough ?. Jen
