I’ve just realised its my one year anniversary on GoY! Part of me can’t believe it’s been that long but the other part of me feels like I’ve been here a lot longer lol. Have to say I’m really glad I’ve found this site. I feel privileged to be able to call you all friends. There are so many wonderful, kind, generous people on here. Thank you all so much for all your help and support and lovely comments over the last year. I wouldn’t be the gardener I am today without you :-). Here’s to the next year of the GoY addiction preferably with a bit more sun lol.

Here’s a photo of something that even if I could have done it without GoY I doubt I’d have been as sucessful or enjoyed it as much. For me part of the enjoyment is being able to share my successes and failures with you all and share in your successes and failures (if that made sense). Without further ado I’d like you to meet petunia colorama grown from seed :-))

Thanks guys :))))

Fran your spot on, time does fly in good company - something not in short supply around here :)

Niverdeen and Hywel, its a wonderful colour isn't it. I've had another flower open up in a gorgeous purple. Must try and get a photo of it.

Thanks grandmage. I've actually managed to get in the garden this weekend :)))))))) talk about excitement lol. Well at least it was excitement until I finally dug out the 6th bramble. Hate to think how many more are out there.

Sam those wretched brambles are a pain, of course they love this warm damp weather, I battle with mine constantly!

25 Jun, 2012

They are a pain aren't they. It's not enough that they are difficult to dig out but they have to poke holes in you in the process lol. I think I may be winning although that may be wishful thinking lol.

25 Jun, 2012

my "garden" has three small beds around the edges; it's amazing how many bramble roots there were, considering there's only six inches of dirt over a layer of bricks. and boy, do they spread! there's still some under the paving itself that I can't get out - had to cut them with a hoe. I did try keeping some in a pot, but they didn't take to it. ah well, there'll be plenty more coming through from next door if i'm not careful.

25 Jun, 2012

Right little blighters aren't they fran. OH has been quite cheerfully telling me they'll be back - such a helpful man lol.

Have you ever tried a weed killer on them or just dug them up?

26 Jun, 2012

I'm trying not to use chemicals, other than a bit of bleach when scrubbing the tables and paving. I just dig 'em up. They're coming from next door: I've tried to block off the bottom of the wire-mesh fence - my mini-greenhouse is there, and my composter, and I've got a binbag between them that I'm using to hold dead soil from repotting, but they're still finding gaps to get through. next door have dug their garden at last, but left a foot-wide border on the side, presumably to make sure that I don't go short of weeds!

26 Jun, 2012

I'm with you there. Trying to avoid chemicals. Although its sooo tempting at times. How bizarre leaving a border undug. Have you had a falling out with them by any chance lol.

26 Jun, 2012

no falling out, but we've only exchanged a few words in the two years i've been here - i tried a parasol, but the first bit of wind made it take off and land next door - so i had to go and knock and ask for it back - they knew what i'd come for, an open parasol landing in one's garden is hard to igore!

26 Jun, 2012

Oops lol I can't imagine how anyone could miss that. I'll bet that was a rather comical moment. Well if you haven't had a falling out the only thing I can think Is that they are completely clueless lol. Good luck in the bramble wars.
