Hi Guys,
got back from our hols on wed and a great week we had to.
Sun was shinning bright, lovely and hot with a slight breeze, perfect really.
the flights were good and on time and arrived at our hotel which was lovely and quiet as in no children or reps being loud and annoying, that was ok when i had my boys with me but not now.
we havent eaten so much food in ages, it was delishous and so much choice, nothing was repeated all week and all home made soups etc.
we enjoyed long walks along the front and into the old town and sat drinking sangria which i enjoyed as i dont really enjoy drinking but that i do love.
we didnt go out into town at night its like blackpool with sun for the hen partys and stag do`s, so we just walked after dinner then sat and had our evening coffee then sat on our balcony or watched tv later.
i havent felt so relaxed in a long time with no pains or tummy probs, but back to reality now and stress lol
anyway wasnt alot to take pictures of as the flowers arent all out yet and to be honest in benidorn its built up and no gardens apart from some walkways between hotel which take you down to the beach or around residential areas, but even with that it was a great place to chill out on their beautifull beaches and sea front, spent alot of time swimming in the sea which i love, couldnt get baz past his knees lol but he did have a paddle to see the fishies swimming around near the shore.
anyway enjoyed our break and its lovely to see the green again in england even though i feel a little cold and my garden has had a little bashing while away with weather.

this small island is off beidorm and its protected as it belongs to the doves, we didnt manage to get over but read about its vegitation you can go over and walk round the island

the photo of the padlocks i took in the old town there was hundreds of then all locked down the winding stone steps on both sides, all signed by visitors, dont know the story on why they started but was amazing to see them all.
and to finish my blog a picture of my garden when i got home, looking very full, i will be getting some gardening done over weekend weather permiting, need to do my pots and baskets for summer to, so lots to catch up on after just a week away, cant wait for the next holiday haha

sorry messed up on my pics, doubled one and tried to fit another one in and it didnt work thats why its at the end lol, not sure how to take one out and change it if you can that is, never mind, you get the idea of my holiday, thanx for looking guys x

Looks like you had a great time away Sanbaz! Fantastic that you were able to enjoy your food with no bad repercussions, that's all part of the joy of going away... No cooking! Your garden is looking as if it survived really well while you were away, I'm sure it was the first thing you checked on when you arrived back! Lol! ;0) Lovely to have you home!

12 May, 2011

Hi Sandra, glad you had a good holiday in Spain. Isn't it great not to have to think of cooking? Like you I love swimming in the sea. Us Scots are tough when it comes to sea swimming!!!!! It is amazing how much the garden changes when you are away for any time.

glad you had such a lovely rest, good to know it is possible to unwind, relax and feel better; i agree with you about the sangria. i love that sand sculpture.

anyone any ideas of how to cope with my holiday next week ~ a scottish island [which i love] but the forecast is rain showers, light rain and heavy rain!!

Pleased you had a good time San, obviously done you a power of good, I`m really curious about the reason for the locks, have to ask Jeeves, lol.
Very good photographs, agree with Sticki, the sand sculpture is grand......

Im happy you had a good time San and got yourself destressed :) Some lovely pics, love the palm tree walkway, i wonder what the story behind the locks is! Your garden looks great, doesen't the acer really " lift " your pond area, Gorgeous..

12 May, 2011

glad you had a nice holiday and the garden looks really nice

12 May, 2011

Glad you enjoyed it San. The garden is looking really lovely...hasn't it come on since last year? Mine too...great to see things maturing! :)))

12 May, 2011

thankyou all for your lovely comments, the garden was the first thing i checked when home lol
my neighbour kept an eye on things and fed my fish and watered the garden if needed.
it was lovely to eat and drink without a bad tummy when away yes and i ate most things i like to which was great but back to being careful now.
i must try and find out about the locks on the stone steps to i would love to know and if we go again im going to visit the island to, its a steep walk apparently and does look like its sinking with the slope.
my acer is beautifull this year and i love the dark colour against all the green and my new willow is doing well to.
linda i wouldnt fancy swimming in the sea in scotland at the moment brrrr lol but i do enjoy the sea much nicer than a pool.
nice to be back amongst GOYer friends and gardens :o))
the sand sculptures were amazing and there was one of the simpsons all sat on a sofa but i didnt have my camera that time :o(

12 May, 2011

Welcome home, pleased you had a lovely time, always good to get away does one the power of good
The garden looks well and had not suffered, so back to it!!

12 May, 2011

San, I am the same, if I can't find out what is going on ...like with the locks, I find it quite annoying! There was a lovely building on top of the peninsula where we were and I couldn't find out anywhere what it was for...whether it was private or a govt. building or what it was.....very frustrating! I would love to know what those padlocks are about!

13 May, 2011

hello sanbaz thanks for sharing the blog..its great to get away and looks like you enjoyed the relaxing..

on the padlocks I can offer some info..it started in Italy and on the locks are the names of lovers..the idea is that they are 'Locked by Love' the idea is that their love is everlasting and unbreakable..it came from a book called Tengo ganas de ti (I want you) where the main protagonists locked a padlock on a lampost. After that people in Italy starting putting them on a bridge in Rome..it spread across Europe..ive seen some in Croatia..

Id expect to see Sandra and Baz on one of them if Im ever in Benidorm then??

13 May, 2011

Looks like you had a good holiday, and the garden is looking good to. Nice to have you back :o)

13 May, 2011

It is great that you've had a lovely break away and been able to indulge yourself with food, drink and sea :) You were both so ready for that stress-free holiday and it seems you chose a great hotel/location.

Everything is springing up in your garden and it seems to have fared well in your absence....hope the weekend is ok weatherwise so you can get your garden jobs up to date :)

So...welcome home....and thanks to Skipscanda for the background to the locks...it seems quite a plausible explanation and rather a cute idea.

13 May, 2011

Welcome home Sandra, pleased you enjoyed your hols its good to relax and get away for awhile, but I bet it was nice to see your garden again its looking great ;0)

13 May, 2011

i found out the padlock mistery, apparently couples in love lock a padlock on the chain then throw the key into the sea, from then on they will never part, so there you go, mistery solved.
oops just seen skipscanda`s comment thankyou, wish we had done one now lol then he couldnt get away from me haha :o)
thanx sue ;o)
thankyou jacquie and carole, yes i looked the lock thing up then noticed skip had commented on it which is great,
we will defernatly visit again one year,
its great to see my garden and looking forward to getting some gardening done at weekend if the weather ok :o))

13 May, 2011

gla dyou had a nice holiday sandra....

13 May, 2011

Glad you had a good holiday, Sandra - jut what you needed after being so unwell. The weather here has been a bit colder than it was, but where I live we are still waiting for a decent bit of rain - it seems to miss our area every time.

Don't attack your garden too strongly as you might make yourself ill again - take care and Happy Gardening.

13 May, 2011

Enjoyed reading about your holiday very much and those pictures were so interesting, especially the one with the padlocks, never seen that before, what an unusual idea. Your garden doesn't look as though you've been away, and the Acer looks especially good. Is great to go away and see other countries, but oh! so nice! to come home again.

13 May, 2011

thanx Holly :o))
cheers Marie hope you get some rain for your garden soon, we have had some while i was away and showers today, im going at a slower pace since back, decided im not rushing about at work or at home anymore, not worth it, things can wait :o)
thanx Titchy glad you enjoy it, my garden isnt to bad not alot of weeds as there are far to many plants for weeds to get a look in lol.
i love going away but always great to see home again i agree ;o)

13 May, 2011

so pleased to see you had a lovely holiday San, love your photos

14 May, 2011

Late to your Benidorm blog, San, looks as though you both had a really relaxing time, which is the whole point of a holiday, isn't it? I'm pleased you were able to eat & drink without any tummy problems, and you're like me with the Sangria. I don't drink much at all these days, yet will happily drink a jug of it if I'm abroad! The garden is looking great, really filling up now. Hope the weather warms up for you soon. : o )

14 May, 2011

14 May, 2011

Cheers San! It's turned chilly tonight, still no rain down here so I had to water the pots this evening. Somebody gave Mum a 'Tumbling Tom' variety which she's put in a tall pot, keeping it in the greenhouse for a while though. Good luck with your Toms this year! : o )

14 May, 2011

thanx shirley, i have a bigger variety this year called alicante lol, funny as iv just been there haha

14 May, 2011

15 May, 2011

thanx Grandmage, only me and baz apart from uni hols for joe but still seems to be so much to do, baz works 7 days most weeks so no time to help out in the house but does try to help cutting grass and heavy jobs in garden, but with work and my art to i need more days lol, i said when we came back im going to go a bit slower but somehow it doesnt happen haha, my hip is bad to which dont help, heyho lovely getting older lol, take care x

15 May, 2011

When I was last on GoY you were just about to leave for your holiday, Sanbaz, and now it is all over. So pleased you had a lovely relaxing time. Very interesting about the locks - I watched Eurovision song contest last night and saw a similar picture of locks there and we wondered why :)

15 May, 2011

Very nice pictures, the one of the island is incredible, it looks like something prehistoric...Had to smile when I saw pictures of Benidorm, in a textbook we used to teach intermediate Spanish there was an article the students had to read on Benidorm...not having ever heard of it before I always wondered what it was really like, lol. Nice to see the pictures, now I know what the article was talking about!

15 May, 2011

Welcome home lol sorry it's late. You had a nice time and I'm glad you were able to feel relaxed for a while. Those cacti were big weren't they :O I would love to have some like that in my collection :)

19 May, 2011

thanx BA glad you like the pics, the double take is a viewing area with a lovely structure with seats, its splits the new beach from the old town area, it a great view when up there, the steps with the locks takes you up there and we sat outside a lovely resturant and drank a jug of sangria and watched the world go by ;o)
