new tree decided and ordered

hi guys as some of you know ive been toying with the idea of a tree for my garden, which may seem strange as we struggled taking 2 trees out and 4 stumps to make my lovely new pond, anyway ive been looking at my garden and feel its something missing, the lawn looks bare and i feel the need for a tree to break things up a bit, alot of you have given me some lovely tree ideas and ive looked them all up and also looked a sites on small trees suitable for the size of my garden.
ive also discussed it with my baz who said no lol,
his words were “i can see whats happening, the lawn will get smaller with all the plants and trees, the path will become a jungle trail and he would be sat at the gate showing people in and handing out machette`s and pack horses” hahah, so i said is that a yes then,,
anyway as per usual i have my way and ive sent off for my new tree,
yes yes im coming to that,, you want to know what ive ordered haha
well i decided on a rowan tree, this one isnt to big and ive always wanted one as i love the leaves and the fact it gets lovely berries for the birds, this one is called cardinal royal, it comes at about 6/7 feet, packed well and from a company named mail order trees, so im hoping it will be as good as they say, i read all comments of buyers who seemed very happy with what they bourght, so when it comes i will let you know,
anyway thats my good news for the day

I think that's an excellent choice - something all year round - doesnt grow too large - good for the birds and easy to grow. What more could you want. Bet you can hardly wait.

Oh good ! I'm glad you got your own way again lol. That's the only thing to do :o)
I think a Rowan is a brilliant choice. It has flowers in spring and then berries.. There are lots of wild ones on these hills here and I always like to see them. It will add interest to your lawn

What is it like San? Mine have bluey leaves and white berries that turn pink. I love Joseph's Rock as well....lovely green leaves and yellow berries. There are some great white berried ones too. I hope you get a mistle thrush...we have one that visits every year for the rowan berries in the autumn and feasts on them for a couple of weeks before disappearing again! Of course the Rowan is a very common sight in these parts....native tree and all that. apparently you can make rowan jelly with the wild ones.

Don't even go there San. EVERYTHING that either myself and/or Ali does, is guaranteed to go wrong.
Latest ones: Ordered 5 pieces of furniture for the living room, sideboards, tv unit etc and when they turned up, they had delivered a wrong piece and not only was it wrong but it was also VERY big and they asked if we could hang on to it until they could get the correct on edelivered - 12 days it took so there was no dancing in our living room for that period as no room!
The potting shed arrived with the guy to assemble it only for him to find that the 2 middle panels of glass were the wrong size. As he said he would have to come back on the Sunday, we offered to drive down and pick it up ourselves so he could finish the job that day! We returned and he finished the job only to inform me that the one panel was cracked - funnily enough, the crack started from where he had tapped a nail in above it to keep it in!!
He said he would return on Sunday......only he didn't and only after I phoned up and spoke to the owner, who apparently didn't know anything about this issue, did the chap return the following day, Tuesday, to finish the job!
Finally, Popped into town last Friday to collect my spare pair of glasses from Specsavers. Hadn't been down for a test in 5 years - naughty boy Dan! - but apparently my sight had not changed so I didn't need new glasses just yet. So, I decided on a cheap pair just to keep downstairs for tv and was told they would be back within 10 days. I didn't get a call, as stated to me at the time, but assumed they were just too busy. Last Friday was exactly a month from when I went in for the test and ordered but guess what.........you got it.......they weren't there!!
I held my tongue but was so peed off that I just walked out and said I would be back when I could due to work commitments. The woman said that the supplier had run out of that lens but would have on here next day.......gosh, that's so lucky then that I went in on the exact day when they must have found some!! I told her that I believed she was lieing. I said it was too coincidental for them to suddenly be able to have the lens there today so please don't patronise me and next time, I would rather them just say.....'we forgot to order them!'
All the above within the last 3 weeks!
SO, I know exactly what you'e feeling and it's just more examples of how bad the service is in this country!
There, I feel better now...lol!!
Hope it's a cracker now when you get it San:o))
17 May, 2010
lol Dan just got back and read this, poor you two, well im back from bad holiday, to dead plants and still no tree haha, which i will call about tomoz in hope they do as they said and deliever when i ask, anyway not staying on as so much to catch up on , so hope you got all your furniture sorted out and things are calm in your home once more ;o)) xx
