Back in the garden

After the horrendous storm yesterday today I ventured outside to check things over. The doors to the polytunnel were pushed in but thankfully every thing was fine and we soon battened the doors back into place. The cover has been on since 2009 ( I know because I just checked my old blogs to find out…lol), we plan to replace it at the end of the year. Fingers crossed it lasts the rest of the winter.
It was so nice to be outside again with out the wind bowing. Having picked up all the blown over plants I ventured off to check how things were doing in my little veg patch. To my delight the kale is looking lovely and I discovered some onions and garlic I thought I had lost.
I even had an hours gardening cutting back some straggly cotton lavender. It was lovely to get my hands dirty again after a few weeks off.
It wont be long before we an all get back out there more often. Roll on the spring

Cannot believe its that long since you did the tunnel, its certainly done you proud Sandra, I bet you need weighted shoes when the winds blowing around where you live.
A stint around the garden always feels good when one hasn't been able to do anything for a while, even if only a general tidyup session or a few snips here and there with the pruners, heres hoping you get through the coming months without any major problems.
Ruby would like her nest leaving out please, our cat Caspar spent every day sleeping under the xmas tree for the whole time it was up and since I put everything away last Friday he's got the hump and refuses to come into the sitting room, now taken over daughters bed......

hi sandra sorry about the garlic see even slugs were not brave enough to eat it,not one of my favourites either, but certainly kale will get tried this year as it is really winter proof i believe

Your kale is looking great Sandra - good job you can't see mine! But my excuse is it went in very late. I wondered how you were going on down there, but you are far enough back from the coast not to get flooded anyway. You should have seen Newgale yesterday - the shingle all down and blocking the road and the pub isolated in a lake!
Snoopy you can buy bags of kale in Tesco if you want to try it. Its like the stronger sort of dark green cabbage and is reckoned to be very good for you.

Poor Casper...he's missing the tree...lol We are pleased the tunnel has lasted so long Lincs, going to be tested again today..fingers crossed...
give it a go Snoopy its nearly seed time again..:-)
Newgale will have a big clean up this week Stera..did u see the pics of Amroth? it will take then a little longer to sort it all out. should get some better weather later this week.

stera we went camping at newgale many years ago just across from the sea dont remember much but we enjoyed it for i think 4 summers i can picture it the shale on the road

Snoopy the road is about 3 foot deep in pebbles and the pub is trying its best to keep its head above water...the whole of the camp site is under water....

Pleased everything is still standing, it has been shocking, will it ever end?

I took some photos of Newgale this afternoon - if they are any good (it was blowing and hailing at the time) I'll do a blog. That campsite is now a lake Snoopy! Have a look.
