Alice got her wonderland...and her man...

Well it finally happened…We now have a new daughter in law and couldnt be happier with my sons choice.

As some of you know we hosted our sons wedding in our garden two weeks ago. We were very lucky with the weather compared to the weekend just gone!

Cyanne wanted an Alice in wonderland themed wedding and she worked hard for months getting it the way she wanted. The rest of us took her lead and along with our son David and many friends and family have spent the last few months creating it.

They did the legal bit in a six minute private ceremony the day before. Then the bride and groom received a family blessing in our garden the following day given by David’s aunty, uncle and Cyannes sister.

It was a proper country affair with tables and chairs borrowed from one village and a large tent from another. Our families camped in next doors field with many arriving days before to help and thankfully staying on to help clear up.

As you can see I was the one doing the pointing…lol

The aisle was the hardest as the ground is rocky and bumpy….but as Dave did the mowing that morning he sprinkled the grass along the aisle and then we added lots of flower petals and it worked!

These chairs are old school chairs we covered with material scraps.

With the tent set up for the blessing we then set up the shed for the reception.

The shed took the longest as it was full of plants and stuff….lots of stuff!!

T.cups full of succulents or flowers were given to the guests. OH sunflowers did him proud on the day..mine should be open I a week or so…oh and we did use some of the echium flowers but alas unpainted..time just ran out.

My t.pots and table centrepiece blended in well.

The anticipation on David’s face as he waited for his bride.

Cyannes mam went the whole hog and surprised her with her queen of hearts outfit. No one knew about it….but she did have a proper mother of the bride outfit in case Cyanne didn’t like it. But Cyanne was over the moon.

Three white rabbits announced to the congregation that they were late. Then followed four mini Alice’s before Cyanne..or should I say Alice and the red queen entered. I had no idea what was planned after that so I took my seat with everyone else.

Family members took to the stage to say their bit..my sister in law helped them to make vows to each other and exchange rings and our Daughter Rosie sang. Not a dry eye in the house…

Even their dogs Dexter and Paris enjoyed it…Although Paris didn’t like her dress Dexter on the other hand loved his suit..

The queen of hearts and her sisters did all the food, it was a traditional buffet with plenty for all.

The cake was made my by niece the bottom layer was a passion fruit gateaux which was delicious.

As ever with weddings it was all over in a flash but we all made some new friends and have lovely memories of the day.

Hope u enjoyed the pics…thanks for reading

Oh nearly forgot the caterpillar that Cyanne and my OH worked to build over the last few months.

My my, now thats what I call a wedding. But I'm exhausted on your behalf though! I love all the photos, but that one of the feet and the terrier in a dress is the best! :)) congratulations everyone, and what a brilliant day! Beautiful bride too...and handsome son :)

Thank you. It's taken a week to recover but it's mostly sorted now. The dogs behaved amazingly well Karen...but Paris did not like that dress...lol

Wow, all the hard work paid off! The mother of the bride outfit is amazing! And that caterpillar! Hope you were feeling fit again and able to enjoy it all properly. How did Cyanne manage to match the boots with the border of her dress? Amazing.

The most beautiful thing about this absolutely fantastic wedding is how both families brought their creativity and hard work to make this happen. Looking at how this was put together and the end result truly proves what was said by the Cheshire Cat..." Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality." My very best wishes to the Bride and Groom.

Stera the mother of the bride blew us all away with her outfit...and her catering skills. Off to the chiropractor again today. 8 weeks and counting!
Thanks Bathgate
Loosestrife that's my favourite quote from the book too....and so apt as Cyannes imagination led us all the way.

What a fantastic wedding. Congrats to the very happy and good looking couple but also to you all for making it a reality. I love all the detail, Alice's flowery border matching her boots matching Paul's shirt. The long table with the brown drape which set of all your flowering cacti and plants so beautifully. Those echiums still worked even non painted. Been homing in trying to get a better view of all the plants you used there. The billowing loaf!! The 3 little Alices. The sunshine! Everybody looking really happy. Paul and dog both besuited, striding out together!
Those dogs, hilarious ? And Alice with her caterpillar all finished and stunning. Love that last table shot! Soo much to look back on. Back to earth now -minus the adrenaline!- and chiros. Hope your back's still good after all that pointing you had to do ?. Good to see you resisted climbing on chairs and overdoing it, tempting as it must've been to do 'just' that bit!

Absolutely fantastic Sandra in every single way! The caterpillar is my favourite!
What an amazing way to tie the knot. And , such a family affair with all the organising! brilliant....made my day, reading this. I would've loved to have been there as my Mad Hatter character .

Resi I loved being able to use foliage from the garden in the arrangements. In with the echiums went six foot cardoons some rhododendron branches and some giant hydrangea flowers from a neighbour. As for the sciatica I'm off to the chiro again today and praying she can sort it this time.
Thanks Hywel
Paul glad you liked it.....you would have made a good addition as the mad hatter. the catterpillar was the star of the day. Cyanne and my OH Julian bonded while building it, they just seemed to understand the whole thing from the start. It even had smoke coming from the hookah pipe at one point.

Many congratulations to the happy couple. What a fantastic wedding with so much imagination used to it's best advantage. I loved the fact that Cyanne's boots matched her gorgeous dress. The mother of the bride outfit was a knockout! The clipped grass sprinkled with petals down the aisle is a beautiful a touch, and finally that caterpillar! ...what can I say...just wish I could be around when he turned into a butterfly lol!

OH MY !!!!
Sandra you certainly know how to do things your own way in your family, its all absolutely lovely and what makes it extra special is the fact that you all took part before and on the day, even the little dogs, Dexter looks so handsome in his suit and Paris is taking it all very seriously isn't she, looking as though she is listening to every word, lol, everything and everyone looks stunning, you all captured the storyline perfectly, I love the caterpillar, the mini Alice's, in fact everything, Cyannes mum looks very regal, if one can say that about the Queen of Hearts, lol, a lot of work and planning and honestly I do not think you could have picked a better venue to go with the Alice theme, so much of what you grow and have worked hard to create at Corside all included in the setting and judging by the happy faces everyone was enjoying it all, the weather played its part as well...
..Beautiful photo's Sandra, thankyou for sharing what must have been a magical day not only for the happy couple but for all of you..
I wish David and Cyanne every Happiness for their Future.....

Wow, now that is what I call a wedding!!! Years ago my girls were bridesmaids for 2 weddings only a fortnight apart. The 1st wedding was a very formal a fair and we all had to be very proper, the 2nd was very informal and we all had a great time, so much more enjoyable then the 1st for everyone. Your sons wedding in my book is the 2nd!!! What you all achieved as a family looks wonderful. Congratulations to you all and I wish the happy couple a happy life together.
