today i walked round looking at the damage from the frost. it has taken me this long to look as wasent brave enough before…lol
i can see the first signs of regrowth on some of them.
this last one had no green on it at all a couple of weeks ago,
these ones are looking good so its not all bad.
then i thought i’d take some photos around the garden, hope you like them.
these show my first daffodil and our soon to be chicken shed.
this is the climbing net for our kids who in their late teens love to chill out down the bottom of the garden.
and of corse Blodwyn who was is no help at all.lol
:-))

It's nice to see all the things growing back Sandra. I'm glad you didn't loose too many of them.
Blodwyn looks like she's enjoying herself :o)

Isn't it great what the plants can stand up to? Everything is looking great. Blodwyn looks very proud of herself for chasing all those birds so well. :o)

What a lovely surprise, Sandra! You really have cheered me up - I've been the same as you, I can't look at some of the runed plants yet. Now please send us some sun - it's cloudy again - but at least it's not raining...yet!

That's brilliant, Sandra. Shows just how much tougher some of these plants are so long as they're not wet. Beautiful Arum, is it Marmoratum? Give Blodwyn's tummy a rub from me, she must be exhausted after all that running around being your mobile scarecrow.

Hi Sandra,
Glad to see that some of your succulents are recovering. Ours are having a great time in our warm bathroom for their winter holiday.

thanks Wagger Blod loves her tummy rubs...shes a bugger for chasing the birds from my mums bird table. we're thinnking of getting chickens this summer. i'm worried they'll bark at them. we're trying to make a dog proof run.
i've been told the arum is italicum but that could be wrong. it has lots of red berrys
20 Feb, 2009
You are both right on the name - it's Arum italicum 'Marmoratum' - I've got one as well! Lovely patterns on the leaves, aren't they.

Grenville our bathroon, kitchen living room and all other available window sills are full. i never plant out anything tender outside unless i have an insurance plant inside.
hope you've recovered from your birthday celebrations.

thanks Spritz. i love the leaves they come so early looking fresh. the berrys are poisonus i think.

Sandra, in your 4th photo down, on the bottom right hand corner, there are some cacti that look varigated. Are they varigated and if so, do you happen to know the name of these cacti? I have one that looks very similar and Hywel thinks it is a type of Opuntia.
21 Feb, 2009
Gilli yes it is an opuntia but i'm not sure which kind.
21 Feb, 2009

Nice to see some Aeoniums, I'm a big fan.I have recently been looking after a collection of them from A arboreum to A sandersonii. They are lovely plants and just coming into their growing seaon. Have you been to the Scilly Isles? they grow like weeds!

hi Rbtkew
its a big learning curve watching mine at the moment. i have been to the scillys, just to see the aeoniums. over the last 7 or 8 years i have been planting them outside some have died off some survive and some positively thrive. but the year after the worse frost i can remember i have lost loads...;-((
i wounder if the ones out on the scilly suffered?

Blodwyn was LOTS of help.
She supervised ALL your work.
Good to see the new life on the plants which have been snuggling under the snow. :o)
