an early Christmas present

When I got home on Wednesday there was the dreaded card saying the postman had tried to deliver and failed. Well he would seeing how everyone was either at work or at school. So early Thursday morning {7am} I went to pick the parcel up.
A nicely wrapped package that I opened when I got to work. I added water and popped it in the boot in full view of the sun.
Well of course they were plants.
Saturday after lunch I finally got to do something with them.
So out came the first plant. A healthy looking Vinca ‘Jenny Pye’, carefully potted up; complete with a new label.
Then a pretty variegated Strawberry that too got some nice fresh compost and label.
The final plant were 2 clumps of Lysmachia clethroides which on closer inspection would make 3 nicley sized plants. So that is what I did. I just love the pink tint to the growing tips of this genus.
Then there was the envelope….. Cerinthe seeds. Now sown and waiting to spring forth in the ; err well, spring.
So thank you dear friend for such a parcel of delights.
That job done I had a quick wander around the garden and spotted a few plants still trying to raise a flower or two.
Anenome ‘September charm’
Achemilla ‘Wessersandstein’
Then there were those plants promising so much in the spring.
Today it has rained and hailed and I have tackled the ironing instead of doing anything in the garden/greenhouse.

Now I'm hungry for boiled egg and "soldiers" bread slices. Lol.

I love deliveries of plants, so exciting, especially if I'm in. I know the feeling of seeing the dreaded 'missed delivery' note. Our sorting office is about 5 miles away and only open between 7am and 11am. The plants and your garden look great.

yes ours too Dawnsaunt. It is a pain to get to, too. Boiled egg for supper then. Shall i cook them tt while you make the soilders?

OK, OK, I confess! It was me! Sbg - I am so sorry you didn't get all the Cerinthe seeds I 'garnered' for you - I found some on the table after I'd packed the parcel. If you want any more, just let me know. :-)))
Our postman normally leaves parcels in our porch, unless there's a surplus charge on them, when we get the dreaded postcard. I usually put the requested stamps on it and post it - our sorting office is 9 miles away - and as Dawn said, limited opening hours, too, and no parking there.

9 miles away Spritz, oh my, not so bad for us then. I've run up the road to catch the postman in the past with my card, lol.

LOL, Dawn! We have two 'regulars', and one of them has been known to take a letter for me to save me walking to the post box in the village! There's only one collection a day, so that was very helpful. He offered!
They both carry biscuits in their pockets for Henry (and other dogs, I expect). He barks to get out as soon as the van gets to our gate!

Sounds like you have friendly/helpful postmen/women Spritz. We have a very nice relief one who has chews in his pocket for Bonnie :-) There was another relief one that came one day and he appeared behind me in the garden quite a distance from the house, which was a bit of a shock. He had a parcel for me and said it was his duty not to fail to deliver - I was quite impressed.

Very good service. :-))) Yes, Dave and Matt call me 'Barbara' and they are great!

our local regular postie leaves most parcels in the waste paper bin and pops the card through with 'usual place' scrawled over it. except on waste paper day when he leaves it under the tarpaulin of the trailer. he is really helpful too. sadly he just delivers and wont/cant pick up.
There were 10 seeds so i will see how they do thanks spritz. they are big seeds arent they. I was expecting it to be much smaller.

but they havent gone mad in my shady site. i think you are too good to your plants, nice soil, lots of nutrients etc. be mean to them. mind you plants have a habit of dying when we do that.
6 Dec, 2009
Told you - I inherited these, and that soil has had the least amount of anything - just a little compost last spring, that's all! I shall have to add more next year though - all that new planting from Beth Chatto's Nursery! Oooohhhh!!! Exciting! Lots of lovely plants instead of the floppy horrors!
