Was that only a week ago?

Well I dont think many of us will forget the weather of the first 2 weeks of January. A 15-20 min journey home was turned into several hours and once fed and watered I took the camera out.
{Sorry to all those who hate the white stuff}

The pond!

Looking towards the greenhouse.

From 4 inches to 8 inches in a couple of hours. I didnt fancy sitting on that white cushion despite how soft it would have been.

Next morning the sky was blue and I noticed we had really big icicles from the eaves. I ventured outside and saw a chain of ice from a very sad hanging basket down the bird feeder towards the rabbit hutch. And as for this poor Jasmine!

A quick shufftie around the garden showed the potential damaged snow can do. The frame thankfully stood up straight once I got all the snow off. A bit of advice ‘dont stand underneath while you try to do this’. The snowman look is not a good one!

Hubby, bless him then ventured out to the local supermarket late in the afternoon and returned with these. They were in tight bud but this is them tonight.

I am hoping to see what the garden is like tomorrow, first glipse of it in the daylight this working week.

good pics seaburn ,im surprised your frame has survived, our nets over beds on plot all collapsed under the weight and plastic rods as frames bent & kinked, what a romantic hubby you have buying you flowers ,:o))

I think we're all glad to be seeing the back of this weather - for a while anyway. lol. What a thoughtful hubby you have!

Those icicles were amazing - have they melted now? I hope your snow has gone, as well.

15 Jan, 2010

the icicles went by monday but there are still piles of snow where we shovelled the paths clear etc. The girls were amazed. I suppose with central heating and the mild winters they are a real novelty for them.

Hubby does have his moments. Youngest child said 'Has dad upset you then?', He hadnt but he does have a tendancy to make a mess after I have tidied up.
eldest's comment was ' what has he bought for his bike?' They know him so well :o))

Your photos are great Seaburn - lets hope we get a bit of respite. Enjoy your flowers, lets hope husband isnt feeling guilty - what's he into - motorbikes or bicycles - both are a weakness I have to endure with mine.

15 Jan, 2010

how about british classic motor bikes, british vintage/classic push bikes, modern push bikes, classic british cars and just for a change the heritage craft Comrade, a humber keel. he skippers this on charter trips on the humber in the summer.
then there is the woodturning and photography too.

15 Jan, 2010

Oh crikey Seaburn .... I have it bad enough, ha ha. Mine has one classic motorbike, one dirt bike and one sports bike, 2 mountain bikes and one racer. The jet ski has gone now - your household sounds like mine - us in the garden, them tinkering.

last new oven was used to heat a cylinder head so he could drop the pistons & rings in, before it was used to cook tea. I came home from work expecting tea ready and i was met by a happy beaming face telling me 'it works brilliantly'. flowers the next day :o)

Ha ha ha Seaburn. I'm getting worried now though as to way you've received flowers this time. PS I sympathise with you going to work in the dark and returning in the dark - not for much longer :-)

Lovely pictures
I am not even in England and I cant wait for the snow to go even though I love it.
I am so worried about my Dad who is 85 and is very independant.
he still does the office work for my brother and he looks after our place and our cat Floyd when we go away.
He drives 15 miles in it everyday at least once if not twice, and has to go up steps to the house 15 in total (if not salted they are really slippy.
We do have other people on stand by like the next door neighbours but he wont give in. He has that fighting spirt of a generation that had a lot to put up with during the war. In his head he is still 19 its only when thing go wrong he feels as if hes 90 he says lol
Every night Dad rings us in USA and says 'night night' lol he is wonderful but he worries me in the cold and slippy weather it wouldnt take much for it all to change.
He says he is having heavy rain tomorrow so it should be ok.
My Dad is lucky he can afford to heat his house and he can get about and has my brother living just next door..(not that he thinks that sometimes) but lots of older people are all on their own it must be a relief for quite a few of us the snow going,I am sure :)
But i still love it just look at it fluffy white stuff ....childhood memories are made of this stuff lol

They could be 'Black Pearl, Sbg - but I think they're possibly a lirrle lighter in colour - that could be the camera, though.

So Dawn has a 'tinkering' husband as well! The garden, I'm told, is my domain and 'hobby' while his is in the workshop and/or garage. Well - at least we're not arguing about what to plant where!

16 Jan, 2010

Well this made me smile - especially the vision of the snowman - I think it could be the look of the future - you should market it!!

16 Jan, 2010

I'm so glad its all gone from here hope you have not had much damage.

16 Jan, 2010
