At last a day in the garden.

A brilliant blue sky, but bitterly cold day just couldnt stop me getting my scruffs on. Back into my attrocity corner to try and get more weeds out. Couldnt do anything with the dead trees as I need hubby to get the chain saw out.
As I cleared moss and dead grass my little friend joined me for any grubs I disturbed. Of which there were plenty.
Many of the Alluim are showing which surprised me as last year they didnt appear until late March. The spanish bluebells are well on their way now but are very choked with couch grass.
It was one of those days where I flitted between tasks. Pruned the Budldeia and cut down the dead chrysanthemum stems. Pulled more than a few cleavers seedlings out . I really must thin out the geranium phaeum too.
I did wander around enjoying what was in flower. Also spotted a squirrel scrape!
That Dandelion will be removed when the crocus are over and I can go in deep to remove it.
By 3pm it was very cold and my poor feet were like blocks of ice. So I roped youngest in to help bring tools into the greenhouse.
I then remembered I had some plugs to pot up. There was a slug in the packaging when it arrived too.
Still I potted on the severed shoot and if it takes, then its one for free.
Hoping for another nice day tomorrow and a run out with hubby and daughters.

Couch grass is the worst to get out, isn't it - when the badgers dug in my Saxifrage patch, they did me a favour in a way - it was riddled with the stuff, so I've taken the opportunity of digging the area and hopefully getting rid of it.
What is that with the severed shoot?

I am hoping it is Saponaria that the quirrels have had a dig around. Not too big a hole big enough though to eat any bulbs if there were any under there. Tulips probably.
So there is a benefit to badgers Spritz!
Thanks Sanbaz will take camera.
Little and often seems to be the order of the day Joanella. I had a half an hour in the warm greenhouse to thaw out. It was very nice in there.

I did lots of weeding too, Sgirl. Could hardy stand up straight when I'd finished, but after three days with my 14 year old grandson who only wanted to 'do computer stuff' it was a joy to be outside.

It is now 9pm and my computer internal clock says it is 27th, and I cant access the comments in sequence. Hope this makes sense to those of you who have commented.

Didnt get out due to the weather. Did some sewing with the youngest daughter so that whiled away the afternoon.
