Just because.

Well … you know what it is like?
I bought some small daffs a few weeks back and decided I’d like afew more.
So I went back to the same garden centre, taking my 12yr old for company.
She decided she wanted to plant up the small wall mangers so we bought some primulas, 50p a pot, the mini daffs [wrongly labelled as tete et tete] a couple of pots of Iris reticulata George and some chinodoxia. All at 99p per pot.
Then I noticed 2 lone pots of Iris danfordiae 3 per pot for 99p so I had to bring them home.
The proprieter than asked me a question.
‘Do you like hellebores?’
Being careful I replied ‘Some’,
‘Follow me then’ he said. I looked at my daughter and said ‘come on then poppet lets have a look’ Poppet being a pet name for my daughter.
Well that was a mistake if ever there was one. He had a bench of about 50 hellebores all priced at £2.50.
I chose this one.
Then Poppet fell in love with this beauty. I hadnt noticed it but it was too nice to leave; the foliage is very dark.
A soon as we got home it started raining so the planting will have to wait until tomorrow.

Something good to look forward to. I hope the weather will be nice. Will Poppet help you to plant them ?

She says she will and she has claimed one of the orangy ones as a pot plant for her bedroom. Victoria likes pottering in the garden and although she had her own space she prefers to have her own pots instead.
She will often chose plants because she knows i like them so that they become mine when she has finnished with them.

Lovely hellebores, and very reasonable too!
Its good to get the youngsters interested in gardening.
My father bought me a Bellis daisy for my patch of the rock garden, when I was 8. I have never forgotten that.

my first garden experience was a packet of virginia stock seeds. The eldest is at the boy stage but will walk round the garden and comment on anything i have done or if something is flowering. In the summer she will pick flowers for her room. in fact they both will.

Fantastic bargains - but you've said that the prices are great there. Lovely choices. :-0)
Those Iris reticulata - can't tell which they are from too far a view.
Could you maybe put the pots next to each other and take a photo? The we could see if an ID is possible!

Lovely purchases - how on earth did you manage to limit yourselves to two hellebores. Love the iris - a good job there were only two of them, eh?
