enjoying the sunshine

What a lovely morning this morning was here in sunny Scunthorpe! I had my breakfast on the patio….well not literally on the patio i was sat on a chair at a table!! Along with my shadow Rocky :o)
I had recieved a book i had ordered called ‘the ultimate container garden’ by David Joyce. Its a lovely book with lots of ideas for mixing colours and plants, types of pots, how to decorate your own pot, at the back is a section of plants for pots, there are ideas for winter colour in pots, spring etc., its a lovely book to sit and browse through with lovely photos and informative writing. I spent a happy hour this morning with my coffee looking through it, until the sun went in!
I have added a few pots to the gravel area, i need some more compost and pots now! Can’t believe i need to buy some pots lol.
We have decided to get some stepping stones for the centre of the gravel as its quite hard to walk on, i’ll have calfs like Desperate Dan before long!!!

It's nice to brouse through a book while enjoying a coffee :) especially if the sun is out. I'm glad you made the most of it.
Good idea to have stepping stones. Gravel is difficult to tread on.
Nice to see a pic of Rocky :o)

Stepping stones on gravel will look great, Sewingk. And how lovely to have a new gardening book to browse through with your coffee (reminds me I've ordered a Geoff Hamilton one from the library . . . a little something for the weekend!).

Your gravel area looks very attractive. Good idea to have the stepping stones. My question is how you can keep it clean come autumn. I used to have a tiny gravel section and I did not know how to keep clean. Raking, using a leaf blower? But it is not only leaves.
I like gardening books myself. Unfortunately I have a condition and can only read a few lines before I feel dizzy.

It's taking shape nicely, SK....I did think the gravel might give you some difficulty with walking and stepping stones is a very sensible and attractive idea.
Your container book looks very interesting...you'll have to post some piccies when you have sorted out some of your new pots (when you get them!)...you'll get some good ideas from your new book.
Sitting outside with your morning coffee is a perfect start to the day :)
