A few favourites on a sunny Bank Holiday

What’s a Pulsatilla doing in flower at the end of August?

Many of the following will have to be left behind when we move house in the next few weeks :(
Ceratostigma willmottianum

Trailing Verbena

Prunus Serrula (planted for Chiara, granddaughter, now 6 years old . . . her and the tree!)

Our lovely Betula Jacquemontii (sorry it’s sideways)

Dwarf Robinia pseudacacia . . everyone loves this.

I will definitely be getting another of these, if possible, and hopefully a few other small trees.
Hope you’re all enjoying sunshine today!

P.S. Phlox ‘David’

(Couldn’t fit this into the main blog, so I’m still a technoprat, lol!)

Aw..you'll have to leave Chiara's tree behind. :( never mind though...you can plant a new one.

That's interesting, Julia. I've been speaking to a professional garden designer and he suggested that for the new garden (he's seen the one we have currently), but I said that I thought it might be too big. We'll be talking again in a week or two, but I have dug up my Cornus Eddie's White Wonder as it's not so big and I do love it!

You must feel so reluctant to leave all these beautiful plants and trees behind, especially the Betula with its very attractive bark.
Just think though, as you have created so much in your lovely garden, you can do it again on a smaller scale and introduce the plants that you love.
Do hope you will be very happy in your new home.

Deciding what can be taken and what has to be left must be quite a task. The above images of plants to be left for the new people show how much care and attention they have received. Can only echo above sentiments: you can do it again!
All the best when you move and I do hope the new people appreciate and love your "old" garden.

Thanks so much Chris and Eirlys for your very thoughtful and positive comments. I'm touched!

I think we would all feel like you about plants and trees that have been loved and nurtured over the years, but you will be so excited when you get to plan your new garden ,with the same love and enthusiasm as the one you have to leave behind..and I'm sure the new owners will appreciate just how lucky they are,to have such a wonderful garden..I know I would ! :o)

Oh good luck with it all Sheila, I honestly do not know how one would choose what stays and whats moves with you, someone told me the best thing to do is not look back once its no longer yours, that way you won't get upset if their ideas are nothing like yours....

Good advice, Lincs, thanks.

Sheila, best wishes for your move. I hope it all goes smoothly & I hope your plants settle in nicely ( as well as you). Will you still be in Hertfordshire?

Thanks Feverfew. I won't be able to put the plants into the ground for some time, as the 'new' garden will take weeks to build (but I recently saw a friend who had also moved with dozens of pots and hers survived like that for nearly a year - so I'm encouraged!). Yes, still in Herts, and in fact we're downsizing just 3 miles across town). I am now feeling very positive, and see it as a good thing that I'm simplifying my life . . . let's hope the feeling lasts!

I can definitely recommend downsizing,Sheila..it's the best thing we ever did..We can see our old house, across the other side of the Bowling Green ! ..and not once have we regretted moving.it's.so much easier to look after,so lots more leisure time..for both gardening and going out..what's not to like ? Lol..x

Thanks very much Sandra . . You're right. The more we think about it, the better we feel that we've made the right decision. X
