Short stroll in early September

Yesterday I had a minor operation (successful), so I am celebrating with a brief blog to show you what I’m enjoying in my garden today.
For Anget, Anemone Ruffled Swan
Left of centre there’s the stem of my Cobaea climbing up the apple tree
It has reached 12 feet from its tub – you can just see the pale yellow flower in the fork of the branches!
Trailing fuchsia
My first Dahlia grown from seed from a friend (Bishop’s children)!
Pretty Tulbaghia flopping :)
Blue Scaveola, flowering since early June
Anemone Dreaming Swan
I hope you have all been enjoying today’s late summer sunshine :)

So pleased all went well Sheila..:o)
You've some lovely plants there still flowering away. I love the Cobaea, is it a perennial? And especially the anemone ruffled swan with the lilac at the back of the flowers, just beautiful..x

Thank you Eileen.
Thanks Janey - I’m so lucky not to have had the op cancelled, so I’m relieved. The Cobaea is an annual, but really wants to grow: I’ve never seen seeds germinate so fast! A friend introduced me to it, and she has a sunny spot where they romp away. There’s a purple version too (the cup-and-saucer plant).

It was nice here but a bit windy. Glad your operation was successful and you were able to enjoy your garden.

Pleased you are well after your op, Sheila! Good to hear.
Well done on your first dahlia grown from seeds - attractive flower.
Keep well, 😊

I'm glad your operation was a success Sheila, and I'm sure the garden will help you recover, you have lots of lovely flowers still brightening it up :)

I like the anemone 'Ruffled Swan' very much, Sheila. Thanks for putting up the pic. I have grown dahlia 'Bishops' Children' in the past and they have always come out well. The insects love the single flowers. Last year I tried 'Autumn Dazzlers' and they have had lovely glowing reds and dark pinks, but not the dark leaves. Another hit with the bees.
I'm glad to hear your op. went well and was not cancelled. It's stressful enough waiting, without the added worry of it not going ahead at all. Enjoy the Autumn sunshine!

That is good news Sheila, take it nice and easy and enjoy your very lovely garden. The fuschia is such a pretty one and I too like the first anemone very much - I hadn't realised there are so many slightly different ones.

Thanks very much Ange - I thought you’d like the Ruffled Swan: it’s a definite favourite with me.
Thank you Chris ... there’s always something new to learn on this great website!

So glad all went well with your op Sheila. I can't get over how much you have flowering in your garden. So much variety and colour. I hear the weather is going to warm up a bit next week, so perhaps we're going to have an Indian Summer? We can but hope. Take care.

Hi Julia! Thank you for your generous words. Yes it does look as if we’re in for another warm spell ... it’s always so cheering to see the sun 🙂.

Sheila, you must be feeling so relieved the op. went ahead in these uncertain times of hospital appointments being postponed. I do like the Anemones but, sadly, they romp away far too much in my garden, so I shall admire yours from afar!
11 Sep, 2020
Yes Shirley, I am lucky 🙂. I wonder if it’s just the pink anemones that romp? I wouldn’t mind if the white ones wanted to spread ... I love them. Oddly I lost three A. Wild Swan in one bed, but one has turned up in the “next door” bed. I wish I knew how to propagate it!
11 Sep, 2020
Is the plant big enough to divide? Perhaps propagate it that way .....
12 Sep, 2020
It is quite big Shirley, so maybe ...

Im glad you did well with your surgery and you are recovering. I had surgery on Tuesday and had to rest for a while so I have been looking at seed catalogs online
to help me think of next years garden. It helps lol!
Hope you are doing well. Good Luck.
