A short blog and a few photies of my hols
The Barcelo Lanzarote Hotel taken from the roof
Teguise Market. This little dog was reknown for sitting on the back of it’s best friend, the donkey
Me and the donkey (guess which one is me!!!)
We went on a tour up a volcano and on the way there was a trail of camels. They were all muzzled in case they bit anyone but some of them wore masks as well (these were ones known to spit at the tourists!!).
!
And now for some plants …
This cactus was the size of a beach ball!!
Saw this tall skinny bird walking along, dragging one leg (poor thing!!)
Well, that’s all folks. I’ve managed to whittle down 78 photos into 18!! Thanks for looking.

I wondered where you'd been all this time Sheilar. I've never been to Lanzarote . You look like you've got a good tan. Glad you enjoyed yourself. I bet looking in that volcano was scary!

I'm glad you had a nice holiday. I enjoyed seeing the cacti. I've got that one the size of a football. It's Ferocactus pilosus .... I bet you really wanted to know that lol not ... but mine is only the size of an orange at the moment ;o)

Thank you all so much for your nice comments.
The donkey just stood there and let me pet him - he was lovely. It's not a good shot of his mate, the dog, but apparently he'd just been shorn for the summer and the only really big bit of fur was the clump left on his tail!
We chased that bird (whatever type it was) off the main path into the bushes as there are a lot of feral cats around and we didn't want it to get attacked. It looked like it was an old injury and didn't seem impeded by it.
The volcano was scary - especially going up the roads to it with a sheer drop seen through the window. The scenery was like being on another planet (not that I've ever been on one but what I would imagine it to be like).
When I saw all the big cactus, I immediately thought of Hywel!! - and the flowers on them were magnificent.

Nice hols Sheilar, great pics.
What is that building in pic 8? Looks like something out of a James Bond film.

Willi - it's a cafe/restaurant, visitors centre and also where they cook food on heat from the active volcanic ground. While we were there, there were chicken portions being cooked over the fire pit on a massive grill type thingy. I agree, it does look like something from a James Bond film!! lol

Oooh Errr, I'd much rather believe it is a Top Secret hideaway, with some fat bloke sitting there stroking his cat, LOL.
24 Jun, 2012
OK Willi - it's a top secret hideaway for 007 and his gang but don't let anyone else know! lol
