I was given a gardening voucher on my birthday last year (August), then another at Christmas and this year for my birthday, surprise, surprise, another voucher!
My son and daughter-in-law both know that these gifts make me very happy and today I finally found something that really appealed to me for the garden.
This set of three terracotta pots plus two bags of compost, (which are less interesting but necessary!) are my gifts.
My Acer ‘Orange Dream’ will go in the biggest pot, not sure yet as to plants for the remaining two, but I do still have a £10 voucher.
I have just realised I need more pot feet for them … there goes the next voucher!
Thanks for looking in.

Sandra, glad you like these pots too. There was a sale on so I got a bargain, so many different styles and shapes of pots but I like Terracotta the most. I do like to use pot feet as it helps keep the Woodlice out of the pots. Fancy you having a surplus of them! :o)

They are lovely pots Shirley, and what better to buy with your vouchers, they will last a long time. I always think terracotta looks nice and weathers nicely too. Your Acer is going to enjoy growing in its new pot.

They look perfect ... 🙂🙂

I also cut back on the number of pots I have,Shirley, which is another reason I have a surplus..less is more,in my case :o) x

Hywel, we clearly like the same then!!
Thanks Sheila, I can't tell you how many different styles there were, some made to look like wood but were plastic, some in very bright colours but I stuck with what I like ... :o)
Sandra, the plants you have in your pots at the moment look gorgeous ... :o) x

Yes we do Shirley, great minds think alike :)

Great pots Shirley, and will suit your Orange Dream perfectly! Lots of lovely agonising abut what to put in the other two now!

Good choices Shirley, I hang onto vouchers for when I need something special as well, that way I don't have to feel guilty how much I've spent, lol....

vouchers are such a good idea and you get to choose exactly what you want. I love the pots you have chosen. I also like terracotta.

Guess what I want for Christmas..... gardening vouchers and a rose each from my sons. They’re honestly the best present to get. I’ve become quite a large pot afficionado! Your pots look lovely & there is always more needed for just one more plant.....

Stera, I have a Pennisetum villosum (Fountain Grass) which would look nice in the medium pot I think. Just asked a question about the fluffy seeds self setting everywhere ... grrr!
Lincs, my son couldn't believe I still had them from last year and Christmas ... :o)
Sbg, nice to know you like them too.
Amsterdam, I heartily agree with you ... :o))

Nice additions to your garden, Shirley! They should look nice after a couple of years of weathering in the garden! I expect your Acer will benefit from moving into the roomier pot as well!
2 Sep, 2020
Go for it Shirley - the Pennisetums would look good in one of your new pots. (If you can keep them under control, lol...)
2 Sep, 2020
Thanks Balcony ... just need to agree on their final positioning as don't want to move them too often!
Stera, I'm now thinking about planting the Pennisetum in the chipped bark area ... decisions, decisions!

Why not stand the pot on the chipped bark and have it both ways - and be free to change your mind later!

Oh no, another choice, ha ha!

I love your pots Shirley and I always like to get vouchers as presents too!
Its a pity you don't live near me either Sandra ( Bloomer) as I can't seem to find any in the garden centre here!

Love the terracotta pots, Shirley. Can’t beat them! I agree with you, pot feet are great for avoiding wood lice. Plus on any ground surface they’re great for drainage.
Your acer will look very attractive in one of these pots. They look really special don’t they! Especially in autumn.

Thanks Rose ... good luck finding some pot feet!
Kate, once the pots of Cosmos are finished flowering then I shall pot up that Acer ... a couple more weeks perhaps.

Good to get a bargain especially on something you want. I`m sure your Orange Dream will settle in perfectly.

Have you planted your new pots up yet and if so would love to see!
6 Sep, 2020
Ha, ha Amsterdam! I need to wait a couple of weeks really as, by then, the Cosmos and Dahlias in pots will be past their best and I can re-arrange any pots to be left outdoors over Winter.

What super pots! I'm just like you I really love getting garden vouchers. It's wonderful to go shopping for just what you want without it costing you a penny. Perhaps you could plant some spring bulbs in one of the other pots would be nice?
7 Sep, 2020
Julia, we just had a short break away and I bought many Spring bulbs in a 3 for 2 offer in a garden centre ... no excuses now to get on with filling these new pots!

I love your new pots,Shirley, and your 'Orange Dream' should be happy with a bit more room for comfort, (she says, speaking from experience ) ! lol ..A shame I am so far away,as I have lots of Terracotta pot feet surplus to requirement,as they are longer needed when pots are on gravel .You could have then bought something more exciting, with your voucher ,:o) x
