EUONYMUS served two different ways,

I was looking thru the window and noticed how brightly this very common Euonymus was looking and how easy it had beento get it to perform in two different ways.

The first photo shows it in shrub form next to a dividing trellis where it contrasts nicely with the honeysuckle and climbing rose `Albertine` on either side of it.

Some years back I shoved a piece into the soil next to an old conifer stump where it grew very well – then last year I decided to have a go at topiary and thought that this was the ideal specimen to have a go at and I think its turned out quite well .The skies had begun to threaten rain when I took this one, but it still brightens the garden.

So here we have them two different forms of the same plant.

I think that at times we overlook just how much these stalwarts of the garden can perform.
Hope you enjoy my little rays of sunshine, I`ve enjoyed them between the showers.

Stroller! That's stunning! Well done! How long did it take to achieve that? We have the silvery variegated one climbing our fence, but it's taken 7 years to reach the top. I think that's why they are sometimes overlooked, because they take so long to get established.

Thank you Olive, Cinders and Sticki glad you like them.
Karen I think they were the first was planted about 2005
and when I planted it a piece broke of so was put by the conifer stump, so as you say they take a long time to grow. Glad your silver variegated has made it to the top I have one in the front garden which has just managed to reach the top of the 3ft fence and it seems to have taken years for it to get there, I prefer this one to the golden one. If I plant one in the back garden now in 8yrs time it should get to the top of the fence for my 80th,LOL.

Both look so different and fill their places well. The topiary one is interesting. It adds character I think.
