the weather was perfect today to get some work done, little changes made around the patio area.
The first change was to put a hand rail in to assist us down the steps as OH had rather a nasty fall on Christmas day. This also gives me the opportunity to show Coronilla “Citrina” in a big blue pot, its been kept in the leanto over winter.

Last week I bought a climber Stauntonia hexaphylla which is evergreen for a large sunny warm wall, so hoping it will do well here climbing up the house wall which is south facing. It has supposedly an exotic and delicious scent. It is full of bud so we will see.
This is a before picture with the old bricks,

and the new bricks plant and statue in place.

This gives an overall view of the top patio looking up to the house its amazing how everything is now springing into life with more to look forward to.

Hope that you have had a satisfying day.

Hi Stroller. That new climber looks lovely there - love your white brickwork too. Everything in the garden is just bursting into life now as you say. It's great, isn't it?

Lovely Stroller...I also love my coronilla...it's such a lovely plant. I've only seen the stauntonia once..in Edinburgh botanic gardens, in a very sheltered spot near the glasshouses. It was in full bloom and the scent was incredible...very pretty flowers and foliage too. I hope it thrives for you!

Gorgeous Stroller. I remember when you done the trellis thing last year, it looked good then but even better now!
Look at the leaves on your Acer, mines are barely even showing!

It always looks good Stroller, its grand to actually be able to garden without having to wear a fleece and lets hope we get more days to enjoy ourselves, might even need some sunscreen lotion this year, lol...
I do like your new planter with the statue, hope the new plant does well for you....

I love the statue. Will order a Stauntonia hexaphylla
to put in a large pot on my south facing balcony.

I've just googled your Stauntonia - it looks very pretty. Pity I haven't any more space along my new wall...lol.

Is your OH all right now?

Hi Tbear, Thanks for your comments, yes it is nice when everything is sprouting up.
Sarahm, thanks for your lovely compliments.
Scotkat, the blue pot is a cheap plastic one painted with a sample pot of acrylic.
Karen, I saw your coronilla was in your front porch which made me decide to put mine in the leanto over winter as I lost my other one a couple of years back. Glad to hear you mention that the Stauntonia had a good scent.
Hope you get your statue.
TT, Cinders,Hywel and Lincs, your comments are much appreciated.
Diane, Hope you get your Stauntonia as with a south facing balcony you should do well.
Spritz, OH is fine ~ no real damage done, his back and bottom did for a time have more colour than the garden.lol.

Pleased hubby is ok now Stroller, it really hurts when one takes a tumble especially if catching the lower back...

What a fantastic garden you have Phyliss, love the new planting it is going to look stunning when Stauntonia starts climbing across your trellis it [ it sounds very exotic and new to me] I also love your Coronilla in that lovely Blue pot and also your Statue too.
Sorry to hear about your Hubby's fall its so easily done especially when you have steps, Im also very cautious as like you we have steps leading onto the main garden, but alls well that ends well and glad to hear he is ok.

Love your gdn.Stroller. Makes me a bit envious, I'm afraid. Like the Coronilla, but no good for me as nowhere to put it in Winter. Would have to build a tent over it I guess!

Thanks Carole as you say caution is the by word especially as the years go on.
Feverfew glad you like the garden but as you say you do need somewhere to put the tender plants during the winter months. Because the Stauntonia is said to be very tender I shall have to put a fleece over the trellis in its first winter until it gets really established.

It all looks lovely Phyl, is that a new statue? I remember you were wanting one. You were wise to take your coronilla in, my two are almost defunct, I just hope they make it:-)

Hi Ba, no its the one that used to be at the side of the patio by the Rose and honeysuckle, in facts she travels around a bit.lol.
Thanks Shirley my day was great managed to get quite a bit of tidying done then just sat and enjoyed the sunshine.

That's exactly how it should be! We've had a grey and cooler day today ... after a light rain shower at 6.30 I went out on a slug-hunt ... found many of the little beggars climbing up the Daffodil leaves ... they're enjoying themselves in the brown bin now!
