Used postage stamps for charities

It’s the time of year for saving used postage stamps.
If anyone wishes to recommend further charities which accept used postage stamps, you are very welcome to add the details in the comments section below, but here’s the request given by the Pug Dog Welfare and Rescue Association for stamps :
Please send ANY used stamps, removed with approximately ยฝ -1 cm (quarter of an inch) of envelope surrounding the stamp to prevent damage.
Please note that if stamps have too much excess paper, our agent will not buy them.
The stamps do not need to be sorted into individual countries or prices etc.
They are bought by weight so the hum drum stamps are worth as much as the unusual ones.
Please post your used postage stamps to :
Pug Dog Welfare and Rescue Association,
Used Stamps Appeal, Fords Farm,
HORSEY, Norfolk, NR29 4EP
Conker has been rather poorly lately, and he sends his thanks for the good wishes and get well cards from his GoY friends. He even received a beautiful original pencil sketch of him looking fluffy and posing nicely !
He is currently half way through a 2 week course of tablets, broken into about 150 sections … LOTS ! …
so it’s fortunate that he’s enjoying taking them. I’ve made it into a game !
This week I’m glad to report that Conker has perked up, so I hope he gets a more positive report from the vet in a week or so from now.
He likes to help with the postage stamps and he had fun posing for this picture.

Hi Tt, glad to hear that Conker is feeling better, and he gets a good report from the vet, I'll send any stamps we get to this address, but we don't get a lot, but as they say at tesco 'every little helps' Derek.

Thanks Derek and Amy...
The Pug Dog newsletter is produced by a woman living in a nearby village, and I know she puts a lot of work into the Pug Dog Welfare and Rescue, so a good choice of charity.
When I asked Conker if he would take honey with his tablets, he looked excited and wagged a LOT. I didn't realise he knew the word 'honey' and then I realised he thought I was asking if he was 'hungry'.. ha ha .. he knows that word well at food time :o)

I didn't know Conker was feeling poorly Terra and I'm very sorry to hear that, sending lots of get well vibes with hugs and of course one for you as well, hoping he continues to improve. xx
Thats a lovely photo of him with the stamps, how could anyone resist that face....
Brynner is really naughty, he is still on tablets because of his yeast problems and if we are not careful he removes his tablet and lays it beside his dish, they really are funny aren't they.....

Thank you Sue ... x x
I understand what you mean about Brynner being naughty with tablets. Last week I tried the very first tablet piece for Conker with yogurt and he swallowed the yogurt and then quietly spat out the tablet. ha ha
It would be dangerous for Truffle to eat the tablets, so I had shut him in another room. When I switched to the honey, Conker swallowed the tablets readily, but, to be safe, I always put Truffle out of the way at tablet-giving time.

Sorry to hear that Conker has not been too well. I hope he makes a full recovery. Nice photo of him with the stamps. I'm afraid mine all go to Bransby horses home. We have a Dogs Trust charity shop in Godalming, so lots of opportunity to help our four legged friends. Best wishes to you too!

I will start saving them form now on ....
I like pugs I just wish they would breed them with less squashed faces so they could breathe more easily
hope Conkers better soon , I used to smear any tablets in pate or a bit of butter help them slide down lol , worked 90% of the time.

Thanks, Sandra for your kind thoughts. x x
Hi Gnarly Gnome ... Thank you.
The Pug Dog Club is working with very strict rules on the breeding, so let's hope in the future all Pugs will be healthier.

There are soft chewy treats in chicken or beef flavor called "pill pockets" you just place the pill(s) into the hole in the treat and the dog does the rest. You will find them a no hassel way to give your pet it's medication. I hope you have them in the UK.

I'm saddened to learn of Conker's illness and hope for a full & speedy recovery. I think Loosestrife2 has a clever idea - it might even work for vitamin supplements.
1 Dec, 2015
Thank you Neena, Chris, Tracey, Stera, Loosestrife and Paul ... for your very useful and supportive comments which are much appreciated.
I'll be collecting some antacids/gastroprotectants from the vet tomorrow, to aid Conker's recovery.

Hi Klahanie ... Conker sends woofs and says thank you for your kind words.

So very sorry to hear Conker has been poorly but very glad indeed to hear the tablets are working & he's feeling better.
They are such a worry, aren't they, when poorly.
Ruby is awful at taking any tablets & we go to great efforts to disguise them even tho vet says they are palatable - she doesn't think so.
My springer was easier, we used to wrap them in a bit of ham or bacon & toss them in the air. He would catch & gulp them down.
Talking of charities the RSPCA shop in my town Bury St Edmunds, is collecting all sorts to raise funds. Here's their info:

I do hope Conker is feeling much better, I am as usual very late catching up with things, TT. Such a worry for you so take care of yourself too.
3 Dec, 2015
Hi TT. I'm also behind in catching up with people's blogs after 2 weeks in Spain attending to my mother-in-law. I've almost caught up now but reading about Conker being unwell again made me feel sad for you both! After getting over his cancer with such an aggressive chem therapy & having some years of great health it was sad to hear he was poorly again.
What is the matter with him? A recurrence of his cancer or some other malady?
We had to give tablets to our 5 dogs for several years because of a heart condition, (apparently very common in small dogs like ours), a valve that didn't work properly. We often found it difficult to get them to take the things! We used to wrap them up in pieces of York ham but sometimes they would detect the pills & spit them out! It never occurred to us to use honey & I've been putting honey in my morning cuppa practically every day for well over 30 years!
I hope he gets better with the treatment the vet has prescribed him!

Thanks, Gee ...
Yes, we worry so much when our pets are unwell.
Hello Balcony ...
I've told Conker he'll get chubby with all the honey on his tablets ! It's nice to see you back on GoY :o)
