Back garden …

These two-tone blue grape hyacinths flower faithfully every year …

In the dog run, small birds love to peck among the shingle to find Truffle’s short wiry hairs … ideal for nest-building …

Last year, nearby, a pair of wrens successfully raised two babies. Over recent days the wren has been very busy pecking moss to make a new nest …
… his favourite collection area is from the grass under the grid. I placed the grid there a while ago, to give that lawn area temporary protection from the active blackbirds nesting in the shrubs overhead …

Front garden … happy rockery area …
… and white stream tumbling down …
Certainly, springtime is a very special season !

I love to see all your spring photos Terra. Your garden is especially lovely at this time of year. Funny you having the Wren. One has been hopping around my patio staging today and I think she might be nesting quite nearby. I shall keep a look out for her from now on. Lovely birds aren't they. :)

Thanks Seaburngirl .. no wonder the wren is so busy !
Re. the blue colours near my white stream .. all those blue flowers have multiplied a lot since last year.

I love your garden Terra ! Its so different to most gardens and absolutely immaculate. I love the picture of the blue tit. We have yet to see one here.

Hi Karen .. thanks... Last year I was working up a ladder, mending trellis, when, by chance, I spotted the wren's nest a few yards away. The two baby wrens were leaving, exactly at that moment, so I took some precious photos when the fledglings were on my rockery, just out of the nest, before they disappeared into the shrubs.

Thank you Rose.
Previous years, my dog run area has been full of sparrows.. often more than twenty .. collecting Truffle's wiry hairs, but this year, very few sparrows around. However, their absence has given the blue tits and great tits the opportunity to move in and collect the hairs.

Thanks 3d ... I photographed all the birds through rather hazy windows, so I'm glad those pictures came out reasonably clearly !

All just lovely , Terra .

Terrific photos Terra . . . and to have captured two fledgling wrens last year is nothing short of amazing. What a treat - there canβt be many people who have even seen baby wrens!

Hi Tt, I love seeing your spring garden, no matter what the weather is like here, it brightens my day, Derek.

It doesn't seem long since you made the little pebble garden - its looking grand now, and so is everywhere else - all just a bit different, and very imaginative. Lovely.

Thanks Driad ...
I love all the flowers and blossom around us at this time of year.
Hi Sheila ... thank you
I was VERY lucky to get the photos of the baby wrens... just in the right place at the right time, with camera !
Hello Derek .. thanks for your lovely comment. The spring flowers really do brighten up the days, don't they. Lots of blossom to see today, as I drove around locally.
Thank you Stera .. Last summer I improved my pebble garden ... slight re-design... it has worked out well.
Thanks Balcony ... I'm glad you like the white pebble arrangement.

Your rockery is stunning and your pebble garden. I envy your Aubretia which I would love to grow, but the Peacock boys adore Aubretia too, not for admiring, just for eating! Nice to see you are as mad as us when it comes to supplying amenities for the birds, moss in the grass - who cares when you can help supply nesting material?

Thanks Honeysucklegold for your kind words about my rockeries. A few years ago the aubrieta flowers on my raised bed would all get eaten, and sparrows seemed to be the culprits .. but now there are less sparrows so my aubrieta is left alone, to flower prettily.

I look forward to seeing your spring garden photos each year. Glad you mentioned slight changes as I was thinking there were some. I love seeing the wrens in our garden. They may be small but they do make a real racket.

Hi Scotsgran ..
thank you ... yes a few slight changes ... some rockery plants have spread a little, and others have been trimmed back. The wren has a loud voice at times !

Your garden is looking beautiful TT. I love this time of year, don't you? Please tell me how you manage to keep your 'stream' so white?
4 Apr, 2019
Thanks Waddy ...
... yes, beautiful time of year !
I think my stream stones stay white because the garden birds stand on nearby pavings and cobbles instead.

If this was my garden I would be perfectly content!! It is so pretty, so dainty and filled with the colours of spring.

your garden is looking wonderful tt. your birds are certainly keeping busy. The male wren builds several nests and then the female selects the one she wants apparently. I have found several unfinished nests in and around the garden but only one occupied. that was the box we put up for the robins!
love all the different blues in the bottom photo.
