GARDEN VISITORS

We often hear them but today, we had four who spent a lot of time in our Prunus Padus looking for insects. Chiff Chaffs are not easy to photograph because they flit around so fast and the leaves and the birds were very similar in colour! So I was lucky to have camera in hand and took lots of shots. These were the best of them.

Well done Tet, I've not managed to catch one with a camera yet. You're right, they move mighty quickly and like the deep cover of trees and shrubs - but there's no mistaking that song.
They'll be fattening themselves up for their trip south, now that Autumn's here. (Ha! - it's 80 degrees in my back garden today! Phew!).

Too hot for me and we have a shady garden!

Lovely little birds, thanks Tet - you must have sat very still to catch all those!

How lovely, don't see many here. Love the last photo especially.

Lovely pictures. I like wild birds but I always see in my garden the very common for a London suburban garden.

Great shots Tet - they are lovely, but I've never seen one. 28 degrees here too, so we're sitting in the shade!

Can't believe how much washing I've got dried on the line today (yeah, sad I know!). 30 degrees has forced me indoors! :-)

I managed to catch two of the four there were there. Thanks all..actually Sticki, Ken went indoors for the camera and back again and they stayed in the tree. We were on the terrace and they were on the tree by the hedge on the right, if you can remember it.
It was 80 deg here too, and we spent 7 hours in our neighbours garden pruning his forsythia (and chopping up the branches, and then planting about 40 plants. Took these pics in our lunch break!
Are you back on line Lulu? On your puter I mean? Hope so!

At first I could not find the bird in the first photo, and then on closer inspection I found it.

You gotta love birds.

Well done Tetra, lovely photo`s, you did well to capture them, they were obviously more interested in the food than what you and hubby were doing..

Thanks Sandra, very lucky to get them. Sticki my feet are too swollen to lift lol! and my back is ..unmentionable! 18 of those plants were irises which I planted all by myself, using my new midi-handle trowel. Good invention!
They were very intent Lincslass, looking for tiny insects.
Thanks Alextb, we certainly do love our birds! They are amazing arent they.

Lovely to see photos of these birds, Tet ... I have yet to see them around this area . . . . .

They are usually heard but not seen Shirley. They move very quickly, flick their tails a lot and are tiny..only about 4". I think ours might be juveniles cos they are smaller than the blue tits we have seen in the same tree. Also I think they prefer a tree indigenous to Europe and the UK. Most of time time they spend in our Prunus Padus looking for tiny insects. Never seen them on a feeder.

brilliant capture, never see them here. Like the 1st photo.

Altho they flit from branch to branch Bampy, when they peer under a leaf for insects, they have a moment of intense concentration when they are completely motionless then they peck so quickly it must a split second!

Beautiful, clever you.
