Things are looking up - we hope!

Hello Friends. After 6 months of a nightmare, we think we’re moving forward – hopefully. I’ve popped in and out of here over the last week or so but I’ll call this my official return! It’s good to renew friendships and make new. I think I’ve already done that with lovely Val’s lovely daughter, Pita. We’re visiting my son and his fiancĂ©e this weekend to help with their newly developing garden in Sheffield. They live in Bradfield, S17 and I wondered if any GOYers in that neck of the woods could recommend any favourite GCs or – my own preference – small nurseries? I had hoped there might be a local garden open for the NGS but it seems not, sadly. I’m really looking forward to spending the day with Sam and getting stuck into the garden – but we need some plants first! My wonderful, prospective d- I- l is off for a day’s retail therapy with a friend, so it will be nice to have something to show her on her return.

I was just thinking about you yesterday. Good to see you back and I'll bet you are getting excited at the prospect of getting stuck into their new garden.
I hope you are able to find a good GC. Will be waiting to hear all about the work you get done. Enjoy your weekend x

Welcome back! And have a lovely weekend. My son used to live in Chapeltown, a bit north of Sheffield. There is a lovely GC near there - Wentworth, but it might be too far away. I can recommend it, though - it's a nice trip out.

Thanks for the welcome back, Angie and I'm certainly excited about gardening at Sam's. Will blog the results.

Thanks again, Suzanne. I will google Wentworth and hope it's within striking distance.

What a lovely little village Wentworth is! We all had a lovely meal at a bistro there, about 6 years ago. My son has moved back to this area now, so I don't suppose I'm likely to go there again. I was very impressed with all the estate cottages.

We went there a few years for the boxing day hunt. I thought it was a lovely place too. :)

Ah, Karen! I discover you've changed your username - now I know who you are. Thanks for the welcome back. My DIL to be was very pleased with the results of our efforts. Sadly, we couldn't make it to Wentworth as it took us 3 and a half hours to get to Sam's, where it normally takes 1 and a half, but we will make it a venue for a future visit - sounds lovely!
