I've still got wet feet!

As you may know my garden was a lake last Thursday.

Next chapter – the hole was filled in and surfaced beautifully, you couldn’t feel the join. Then Saturday afternoon I was popping down the local shop and at the end of the road – guess what? – yes, water was bubbling up again, flowing across the main road and down my road, though only as far as the first two drains this time. When I got back home I rang the water company who at first told me our main road did not exist. We finally managed to pin us down on her map and she found the original job number and put it through again. She did say that it wouldn’t be repaired until Monday!

Well, they must have had a lot more telephone calls because they arrived to start work at about 10pm on Saturday night – what a result!!!

They have roughly filled in the hole but not surfaced it yet, we think they are waiting to see if it goes again. There are traffic lights each side of the roadworks but not down our road so we have to dice with death to get in and out (well, that may be an exaggeration – if there’s no traffic we just go).

We will see what tomorrow brings.

You could of had your own swimming pool filled and no extra cost. This is why we pay so much on our water bill as they don't fix things properly bodge jobs, bit like councils, I would buy some Wellies as suggested by Terratoonie and bill them for them hehe

A good number of years ago I had friend who worked for the local water company. He told me that when called out they tried to get away with a bodge job so that the problem would re-occur. That way they would get call out money as well as extra overtime.

I'm sure Misty has some tucked away somewhere, Terra.
A swimming pool would be nice, Morgana - perhaps I could get the water board to pay for it to store their water in.
That would figure, Toto.

I hope they sort it out soon for you. I'd hate to think of you under water again

Oh dear, Wagger, what a disaster. Sometimes the water pipes fracture, so they do a quick job and then it 'pops' a bit further along the road. This is happening between our village and the next town - the water company have covered several miles in this way throughout the summer :)

Oh, for goodness sake! Water Boards all seem to work like this! The end of our lane is always being dug up! Traffic lights, eh? We had them for one of the 'digging' sessions!

Toto....that doesn't surprise me in the slightest!!!!!!!!!!....all the councils and essential services are on this fiddle!!

Of course your main road doesn't exist - it's under water!! :-)

LOL. It's probably been designated as an official river, Andrew!

~NEWSFLASH~ a new Buckinghamshire lake has been established. Residents awoke to find that they are now on the banks of a lake that appeared from a deliberately botched job by the waterboard. A board official would not meet us but told us by phone that the road has ceased to exist and that it has been designated a lakeside ........... and if they leave it a bit longer they can get more overtime money for pumping out!!!

LOL.....Bob:))

I thought they got as much overtime as they could cope with at the other end of the village where they have repaired the same leak about eight times over the past couple of years.

When did you get a job on the Bucks Press, Bob. LOL

17 Nov, 2009

Hope it gets sorted soon.
