Flowers from the Loire.

We spent a lovely week in a pretty little town called Montsoreau in the Loire Valley.
I like the French way of life and would like to share some photos with you of the flowers along the wayside, in the streets and near people’s homes. There will be very few words just pictures!
I bought this bunch of lily-of-the-valley at the market.
There was a ceremony at the War Memorial on ‘Victory Day’ in France. This wreath of flowers was placed there.
This lovely bunch of garden flowers was given to me by the owners of the house where we were staying.
In Fontrevaud we found my idea of heaven!! There was a soap museum, factory and wonderful shop. The scent as I stepped inside was very powerful!
Come with me……….
Last of all please can you tell me the name of this tree?
It had purple blossom, but was not a lilac, and it was certainly a new one to me. I guess it is one that we cannot grow here.
Thanks so much for looking and coming with me!
CHEERS!

Great pictures! I went to the Loire valley when I was a teenager, but I remember very little, it was a very long time ago!

Wow! I totally get France! I am sure that I was French in a previous life! Could it be a Jaquaranda tree Chris?

Thank you all for looking.
I saw Jaquaranda trees on some of Klahanie's photos and yes of course it could be one. I really liked her photos so I was lucky to see one 'for real!'
The weather was cool at first but it suddenly became very hot for our last 3 days.

Hiya Chris, welcome home ! I love the Loire Valley too ! We went with my cousin and wife quite a few years ago. They live near Paris and we stayed with them for a few days and then we all stayed in a gite . Your pictures gave me some fond memories ! xxx

Very evocative pictures Chris - could almost believe I was there. Don't you love those doorways (pic no.5)?
bet you had a really great week.

I enjoyed that - I don't have a passport so it's only way I can visit foreign shores! I loved those stone troughs filled with plants, absolutely gorgeous and that pretty window with the shutters. Thank you :)

Both my OH and I adore France, I do have French ancestors, so that would explain it, loved looking at your photographs, you obviously had a great time, I am not sure about the tree, but last week I saw two trees with lilac flowers, very tall, which I had never seen before, I wonder if they could be the same?

Wonderful blog enjoyed it very much, I too like the French way of living I found it very colouful with their flower baskets and relaxed way of life when I was in Frejus and Hyeres reminds me of England prior to the war. My dad s ancestors were french house of Roule.

Ba, I knew you would like it, your sort of place.
We did take the car and used it each day. I am sure there must be public transport but saw very little of it.
