5pm on the 1st February!

Outside it is dark, it is windy, it is cloudy, it is very wet underfoot and not a lot is happening.
However, through the gloom I can see something more cheery which makes me smile and makes me feel better. Hope you will be smiling too.
These pots are placed close to the house so that I see them first, before I see the muddy flower beds, the very long grass which one day might be referred to as a lawn once more and the general greyness!! Maybe the sun will come out tomorrow. Hope so!

I have just come back from a few days away and was pleased to see some cheerful little daffs had sprounted in my garden too. You're so right, it does make a big difference to the general gloominess :)

It's cheering to see the spring flowers isn't it. I hope it's better weather for you tomorrow :)
I like that big trellis ... It must look lovely when things are growing on it in the summer.

Everyday is a new day - especially in the garden - always on a walk around there is always a new bud - or something - your flowers are really pretty - Jane

What a welcome sight. I spent the weekend cleaning my gardening tools, sharpening shears etc and planting up a basket with spring flowers to put by the door. I also did my yearly RSPB bird watch count. It might not have been very spring like weather, but I definitely can smell spring in the air :-)

Oh yes, your photos have made me smile.

Thank you everyone, I can tell that we are all itching to get out into the garden in some gentle spring sunshine!
Hywel, the trellis was replaced last year and hopefully this year the plants we put in will get established. They made a slow start last year and visits from the deer didn't help!!

I have been busy tidying up for spring. Too early for flowers in Glasgow. Everything is just so wet here.

At least amongst the wet and gloom this winter, we have had plenty of colour in the garden due to the unseasonally mild weather.....every cloud etc
