Been busy doing other things!

I have looked at many of your beautiful photos and blogs but haven’t had time to comment. I have enjoyed them though and am sorry for not saying so!
One reason I have been busy is that I have been looking after my friend’s dog, Monty, every Monday, while she does voluntary work at a NT property. He is very unsettled when left on his own.
His photo is now at the end of this blog (my mistake!)
Another reason is the arrival of our new grand daughter who is now nearly 2 months old.
Yet another reason for my absence was our holiday in Provence which was spoilt by wet and cold weather!! No wet, cold photos to show you though! Instead of sipping wine in the evening sunshine we were glad of a mug of hot chocolate instead!
We have been very busy trying to tame our very unruly, cottage garden!
My sister-in-law went to Chelsea last week and from her photos I really like the colour combinations in these:
I really wish that the BBC coverage would focus less on the main show gardens and their designers and would show the many delightful artisan gardens in more detail. Only my opinion but it seems a good moment to mention it!
It has been nice to be amongst you all again and hopefully I can join in more often from now on! It depends on the weeds!!!
At least with pots and containers I am more in control!
Not strictly true……the hosta in the second to last picture has been completely devoured by slugs since that photo was taken!!
Aah well!!!

Actually Karen, if you were to see our holiday photos, it looks as if we had a wonderful time! We didn't, but I still love France as you do!
Carole, Zoe is a dear little baby. Wish they lived round the corner though!

Agree totally about Chelsea it is after all called Chelsea Flower Show, they show about 15 min on Malvern and Tatton park and not much longer on Hampton and that is enormous show.they have lost the plot.

DD, the holiday photos are on our other computer and I need more practice using the photos on it. They are not easy to manipulate but I will try to put together something on a rainy day!
Brian, wise words! The various flower shows throughout the year give them a perfect opportunity to concentrate on the plants themselves not the 'personalities' ( for want of a better word! )

how lovely to see your new baby granddaughter and your beautiful pictures of your untamed cottage garden, just as it should be. I know that all too well. Hopefully the next time you go back to France the sun will shine. :O) Happy dog sitting. :O)

Bet you're enjoying Zoe, Wildrose! It's a shame they're not closer. Your plants look great. Sorry to hear the weather was disappointing for your holiday. I always say bravely that the weather doesn't matter on holiday, but I'm afraid it does!

Congratulations on your beautiful little Zoe! How disappointing to go all the way to Provence and not have sunshine . . . it's an area I love, and would like to go in September, depending on the 'strike' situation . . .
You'll soon get the garden back into shape, if we only get some warm sunshine :)

wow you have been busy with one thing and a nother. hope you get out into the garden as soon as you can and enjoy the weather [well if it is not blowing a gale, below 15 degrees and not raining.]

You may call it unruly but, it's spectacularly colour.

Gorgeous baby! Lucky you.
Agree about the interesting colour combinations, especially the first one - I would never have thought of combining those shades.

Thanks to you all.
We have had really lovely weather in the south west recently so we have had plenty of opportunity to work hard in the garden!! It looks better for our efforts as long as you don't look too closely!!

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful grandaughter, sometimes we are too busy with other aspects of our lives and none better than spending time with new family members and pets, I like cottage gardens and as you say one just sees the whole thing the weeds get overlooked, anyway its so full of colour one wouldn't look for them, lol....
Lovely photo's W'rose...

What a beautful new baby, congratulations to you all. Wish I could have a cuddle. Monty looks very cuddle-able too, I bet he is fun to have around. Your garden and pots are looking nice and summery. I'm battling slugs/snails too, they seem to have arrived in droves. I recently cut down a conifer which had 'died' inside and it was full of small snails from top to bottom.

Good to see you having a cuddle there Chris! And you have your priorities right! Sorry about the wet cold French holiday. I've had a few of those myself but would still go back every year if OH would take me! I just love France :)
