More Daylilies
7 comments
It is mid-season for daylilies here, so lots and lots of flowers. I have noticed that a couple have not returned, but they are dormant types that do not do well in my climate. All I can do is try to capture their genes while they do survive. But the warmer types are doing very well. A favorite of mine is ‘Strikingly Dramatic’. It has some very nice double traits that are easily passed on.
A nice one in the Unusual Form group is ‘Twisted Mint Julep’
That is by Dan Hansen in Florida. Also by him are ‘Geneva Top Notch’
And ‘Ladybug Lancelot’, and nicely patterned one:
Towering over everyone is ‘Neighborhood Watcher’, a DIP I registered in 2017.
Due to low Bud Count, there is one I would like to register, Core Values x (Magnificent Hummingbird x Audubon’s Oriole). It needs more than 10 flowers on a scape to be considered.
I am about to start the registration process, but there are a couple of additional contenders. First is (Sdlg x Free Wheelin’) x El Aventura. This is 15cm wide on a scape that is 93cm tall.
There is also (Amber Rhum x Kazoo) x Gilded by Grace. It is 11cm wide and 101cm tall with a bud count of 18.
For the DIPs, there is Blue Oasis x Watchyl Lavender Blue. It is 14cm wide and 93cm tall.
I do have a hybrid Gladiolus starting to flower by the name of ‘Las Vegas’.

Thanks. This is the first year in a very long time that I have grown the hybrid Gladiolus, and I do like this 'Las Vegas' one.
The first contender has as its pollen parent the first one I showed in my blog 'Daylilies' on May 13, and I am considering it for registration this year.
