Lovely walk to share with you Gee. I used to visit Hythe quite a lot as part of my work. Is Romney Marsh another of the cinque ports?? The pill boxes were quite prominent there too. Youll have to give us a ride on the Romney Marsh and Dimchurch railway. soooo sweet.

Ypu would think, after all these years, some use would be found for those Pill boxes - growing Mushrooms ?
Grinding up for hard core ?

I always enjoy a walk with you Gee, actually I wish I`d been there with you, mine would have been a lager and a packet of crisps.
Very interesting facts to accompany your photo`s, which are smashing as usual, I think the horse one is brilliant, lol.
You always take such care setting out your blogs, if I tried that I`d probably lose half my pics, so well done...

Great blog. I really felt I was walking along with you. Love those old churches & my favourite pic had to be 'Here's looking at ewe' ..... I'm a kiwi, so what else would you expect from me! LOL I lived in UK for a number of years but never visited that area. Maybe one day in the future ...... fingers crossed.

Thank you, All, for your kind comments. I am just off to Suffolk for a long weekend - I will try and remember my camera. It will be lovely to see scenery and places (garden centres!) completely unknown to me :)

Thank you for sharing your walk with us Gee , I love the balancing horse as well ... we have an old pill box at the end of our road next to the railway line , I remember being frightened of them when I was small ,you didn't know what was in them ...

where do you visit in suffolk Gee? It is a lovely county, big open skies and some really old villages.

I am off to Woodbridge, Sticki, packed and all ready to go. My eldest daughter is living there at the moment.
Amy, the pill boxes remind me of the old air raid shelters we used to play in when I was a child, dark and creepy!

that looks a lovely place, please put some photos on when you get back. my youngest lives near bury st edmonds; we may move to suffolk one day.

I remember there being an air raid shelter on the school playing field Gee , there is no way anybody could have made us children go into it if it had been necessary we really did believe it was full of Witches , we would have screamed and run the other way LOL...

We had big concrete bunkers all along the beach where I grew up in NZ .... built in WWII to keep a watch out for the very real threat of Pacific invaders. The bunkers used to terrify me as a small child, but as an older child, I used to play in them with an older brother. Visited my home town just a few days ago, & drove along the beachfront & they are still there, looking so squat & ugly amongst the pretty beach daisies & statues erected over recent years. I have no idea why they don't remove them. Nowadays, our govt is delighted with the idea of selling off a great many of our country's assets to the very same 'Pacific invaders' our parents & grandparents were so terrified would take over our country!
