Oh crumbs Gee, all that work and the washing just wasn`t in your mind, I can understand that but I bet you were angry with yourself when you realised.
I`m pleased you turned it around to give us a lovely blog, I admit it gave me a chuckle but thats the clever things you do in the blogs...

There are more important things in life than washing

Unfortunately it will have to be replaced and now there is only one place wide enough to fit it! At least it doesn't have to be a permanent fixture - I can take it down and pop it in the shed between washes.

Glad it gave you all a smile :)

Nice one Gee :o) :o)

Ooops, ah well theres more important things in life than the washing - the plants for example lol. I shouldn't worry about loosing it. My mum can never find the concrete spike for her washing line. Its buried in the lawn. Every time we want to use the washing line we end up crawling round the lawn hunting for it lol.

We have a rotary line which we lift out when not in use, and we cover the hole with a plastic cap.. used to be a red one, until the fox took a liking to it one night we have never seen it since, replaced with a white one, still there obviously doesn't do white lol

Sad fact of life, washing lines. Ours spoil any artistic pictures of the house and garden, but I really can't be bothered to take them all down and put them all up again just for that! We used to have a rotary one at the last place we lived, but the metal tube in the lawn took out the lawnmower, so we dug it out and ditched it.

I have a retractable washing line, there's a hook on the bottom fence amongst the ivy, when the washings dry it i unhook it and it retracts back into the casing on the house wall..
enjoyed your blog Gee :)) sorry for laughing..

I'm so glad I'm not the only (well, I was going to say "idiot", Gee, Sorry!) slightly distracted one round here. I'm sure most of us do daft things from time to time. It's what makes us human.

LOL Sorry I know it's not funny Gee , I bet you could have kicked yourself afterwards .. You will have to string a line up to the nearest tree :o)

Great blog Gee but it seems washing lines are a necessary evil. When I had my garden made over there really wasn't anywhere for one to go other than in full view. I fully intended to take it in and out each time, which I did.........twice! LOL

Take a leaf out of YDD's book and buy a retractable one. They are great and lets be honest the washing feels and smells different if it has been allowed to blow in the wind. I like to see a washing hanging out. The retractable ones are a lot cheaper nowadays than the rotary ones and they are able to be left out all year round. No need for storing them anywhere.

I thought about a retractable one, YYD and Scotsgran, but cannot find any suitable place to extend it to without crossing flower beds or paths! My fence posts are all concrete now so it's difficult to find somewhere to site it. I should have given my changes more thought. I have just located a spare rotary line spike in the shed and will try to site that so that its clear from shrubs, etc. I have always put it away after use each time anyway. As I live alone I don't have loads of washing every day, thank goodness :)

Amy, I did think of taking my washing over to the pond and using a couple of the trees over there but thought neighbours might object! My 'helpful' daughter suggested I put the rotary line in the middle of the front garden but when I threw my dirty socks at her she didn't elaborate :)
