It's good to be back....

I decided to change my internet provider and the changeover has not been without difficulty! I have been off line for several days and have been wanting to introduce my new little friend to you. Freaky has a rival for my affection but doesn’t seem to mind.
I am not sure (again) whether this is a young bird or a female. He/she appeared about 5-6 days ago and I soon noticed there was a problem…..
The tail feathers were all loose and one leg was badly broken/deformed….
….but Hoppity can certainly move fast and his flying, landing and balance has improved!
When he first arrived I didn’t rate his chances very much but now, 5-6 days later, he appears in the garden regularly, early morning, early afternoon and a final visit around 6pm. He is very active, feeds well and is certainly no shrinking violet (Freaky’s off-spring perhaps?).
This final photo was taken this morning….
I don’t know what the long-term outlook is for this little fighter, but while he’s here he will be well fed, watered and loved. Well, I never can resist a lame duck – er, I mean blackbird :)
PS – I will try to catch up with all your photos, blogs but it may take some time!!

Welcome back - our net provider has also changed and I couldn't log on until this evening. The changeover was a couple of weeks ago...I hope this isn't how it's going to be!!
Poor little bird. At least he has you to care for him.

i think he is a she, the beak is a very grown up one. the lost tail feathers probably means she has been sitting on a nest. i have seen a male totally minus a foot and hopping around for 2 years.

Aw, Hoppity is a sweetie! She looks like an older Blackie, and maybe she trapped her foot at some time - she looks to be coping though. With help from you, feeding her some treats, her life will be made a little easier! Good luck Hoppity!

Awwww, hoppity better move out of your tortoises way if he doesn't want his good foot being nibbled, lol!

Hoppity is getting very nimble on one leg now otherwise Josie might flatten her especially when she is stealing bits of apple :)
