Visit to Hall Farm Nursery.

Just between Hemswell and Gainsborough, at Harpswell, lies Hall Farm nursery, nestled in the foot of the hill. It really is worth a visit, the old stone farmhouse is set within an acre and a half of the most stunning gardens, and around every corner is another delight to see. There are the most beautiful roses flowering everywhere, over arches, climbing walls, scrambling through trees and even the ground cover types are amassed with blooms.
There is also an array of plants for sale at very reasonable prices, and such a selection of roses, you are spoilt for choice. Here are some photos of the lovely morning we had.

Looks like you are all going to be busy, welcome to our part of Lincolnshire, it is great, who is it that thinks Lincolnshire is boring now then. It is a very spectacular little village/hamlet, nothing there,no shops unless you count the nursery/garden centre, car is a must, plenty of walking available, hidden houses, some of them are to die for, you could all find a house in this village and surrounding villages and garden to your hearts content, very rural and Lincoln city is not so far away, with some lovely villages to ride through to get to the big noisey city with a fantastic Cathedral, have I sold Lincolnshire to you all yet, hope so it isn't so flat and boring after all come on guys come and pay us a visit. Lincolnshire is great why not try the Christmas Market (I should be paid by the tourist board) LOL. I might add that when I arrived in Lincolnshire 47 years ago - I hated it - Yorkshire was my home county, and think my heart still lies there, but I have learned that Lincolnshire is light and airey and has some amazing places to visit probably a lot flatter (well nearly all flat) but still has places that are so unspoiled by developers.

Loved that film and the mediterranean house and garden. It was supposed to be Italy, but was filmed in Majorca. Hope you had a good day...what did you buy?

Halls Farm would never be the same again.

9 Jul, 2010
didn't see the gardens the heat was too much to wander out and around, had had enough by the time I had been round all the plant stands, very hot, too much like hard work walking, wish it would cool off. We are supposedly to get rain Janey and Simbad - MONDAY - don't cross anything though, it could miss us!! Saw lots of dragons one year when I went with my son to visit a big gardening event thingy in Ebbw Vale think it was, something to do with Cultural event, the place was pretty damned amazing, all built on and around the old mining site able to see across the valley and it was a fantastic gardening display, the dragons were made from plants and flowers, very very mystical. That was many years ago over 20 think - now I am just showing my age and I thought I was still 21 eh!! lol. I wish.
10 Jul, 2010
Yep it's stifling today too...but we've been waiting so long for summer...Lol!
Monday....good, shall be back at work then...so it can pour and pour! Your memories of the Dragon festival sound great.........I must admit I like anything to do with dragons...especially sculptures etc. the forge was busy at Hall farm when we were there, and you could have a look at that too....not in this heat though! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.....:o)

Oooh only just seen this Janey, glad you eventually got there when it was open, lol, lovely place isn't it, haven't had my annual visit yet:-)
When we last went Oliveoil there was a bright red Lambourgini Galardo(if thats spelt right) in the car park, brand new, everyone was walking round trying to figure out who it belonged too, thought it may be someone famous, but no-one we recognised, Rob stood there looking at it for ages, lol.
12 Jul, 2010
Yes it was amazing Kathyy, they were so helpful too....we really liked their water feature...in my pics....would like this in our garden...:o))
12 Jul, 2010
What a wonderful collection of photographs, Janey, you have really 'done them proud'! This is our favourite plant centre and although we set off with the intention of 'not buying many plants' we are always tempted by their wonderful assortment and end up with plants sticking through the car windows and sunroof! Their garden is beautiful - I would swap ours with theirs!
Thanks for the virtual visit!
12 Jul, 2010
Yes I always find them very helpful Janey.
Lovely water feature, had some lovely metal dragonflies once when we went, we wanted some sort of ornament for the garden, said they make them at the forge which is just down the side near the car park, and they'll make anything you want to order, it was closed when we went though and haven't been back since.
12 Jul, 2010
Pleased you enjoyed it Anita,,,it is a hidden jewel isn't it.....Lol I can just picture you both trying to squeeze back into the car!!
I love dragonflies Kathy, so to see those would be great...they did have a large grasshopper this time.....mmmm....not quite so attractive..Lol!
13 Jul, 2010
It looks wonderful Janey, I've looked up your blog after reading Kathy's this morning. All beautiful photos and I love the water feature :-))))
In my favs to remind me it would be a good day out

Ha...ha Cristina....yep...I ordered it, but reckon it's got a flat tyre....somewhere the other side of the pennines, I hope you're not sitting on it!...Lol....such a long way to come from darkest Cheshire...:o))
Now I think next week will be fine...all the kids are off school which means we have our granddaughters a few days a week...and it'll get me out of playing Bratz dolls and looking at the Next catalogues, on the girls fashion pages......so if you're all up for it...let's go!
27 Jul, 2010
Well what fun to read this cheerful blog....I've been reading older blogs to get the feel of GOY back again, Janey...lol
So....who got to change the tyre and did everyone have a good virtual time? Such fun...
