Sun in the garden

So another grey, cool, windy day is nearly over and now we’re into July, what has happened to Summer this year?
Fed up with hoping the days will bring some sunshine, I decided to check the garden for the brightest sunniest plants, and there are so many! Splashes of sunshine yellow everywhere….and here they are.
Just outside the kitchen doors are pots of Lilies, and these yellow Stargazers are just Singing in the Rain…:o)
Creamy yellow Marguerites are flowering well in tubs and baskets, on this shady side of the garden.
More basket plants, I love Bidens and this one is a beauty…Pirate’s Treasure.
Further down the garden in the damp and shade, Welsh Poppies are lighting up a sunless spot.
All around, Corydalis Lutea is quite happy enjoying the damp conditions.
On the left side of the trellis Rambling Rose Bobby James
is a picture of cream and gold….the first time it’s flowered…:o)
Through the gate and by the greenhouse, Verbascums Banana Custard are in full bloom and height…over 8ft!
Back through the gate and on the sunny side of the arch, climbing Rose Graham Thomas is in full regal splendour.
Nearby, another climber Golden Showers doesn’t mind the rain at all.
Not having dry and dusty conditions this year the Calendulas have been flowering since April.
Not waiting for the sun, Achillea Cloth of Gold, has just begun colouring up.
In the herb garden, Creeping Jenny, Lysmachia seems to have found a home, flower buds just beginning to form.
And nearby, snails are having a game slithering across Sedum Stonecrop, with it’s bright yellow star flowers.
Looking above the herb garden, this Lonicera has its roots in next doors and flowers in mine….:o)))
And just to think that’s all, looking down on everything from dizzy heights, another pad of sunny Sedum……now that’s why the gutter leaks!

Your sun -shiny garden is enough to chase all the grey clouds away Janey , sparkling / glittering / glowing with cheerful bright colour , did you really let those snails escape ? My verbascum grown from the seeds you sent are just beginning to flower ,if they look as good as your I shall be happy :o)

That IS a good idea San, I've pruned lots of mine back, in between the showers! especially the nepeta which was laying 2ft into the lawn......also Ive had a problem with my ginger neutered tom Teddy, he's been marking his territory and more besides including a pair of my shoes...:o(( Ive had him to the vets to no avail, and I was wondering if the Nepeta was making him frisky....fingers crossed things will be back to normal soon, I can't be doing with THAT smell!
We're all fed up now aren't we, this weekend here is going to be worse than ever, thank goodness were on the highest ground in the village......hope you'll be fine in Blackpool. X

I couldn't possibly refuse a kind offer like that, Janey. I think they look gorgeous (mind you I love anything pink - no comments please Bloomer!!)
I'd better look it up in my Geranium book to make sure it's not one I've already got, lol. And then send you a PM . . . thanks.
