Springtime Colour in My Garden

Sid

With the sun gathering her strength and the longer days, I have been wondering around my garden, watching my plants waking up and taking photographs of course…..

The snowdrops have now come and gone. See you again next year :-)

…and so have most of the Crocuses.

Viburnum x bodnantense ‘Dawn’ has been flowering all winter, but now puts on her most vibrant show as the sun warms up.

Daffodils are abound… This one is Narcissus ‘February Gold’

Narcissus ‘Tete a Tete’ _is a great-value little daffodil. This lot, planted around an old tree stump, was originally just 40 bulbs, costing me about £2. Many more there now than 40 plants! Many are multi-headed, with as many as 3 or 4 flowers per stem and also more than one stem per bulb. As seen here, they naturalise well in grass and as the foliage is not as leggy as large varieties, they are far tidier when the flowers have gone.

Primula denticulata.

Euphorbia purpurea Soon, lime-green flowers will open that will contrast beautifully with the red foliage. This plant tolerates shade and is growing under an apple tree and beside a tall hedge.

Helloborus niger finally becoming established and flowering well after what seemed a long wait…..

Helleborus foetidissima

A few late crocuses…

The Forsythia is pure sunshine….

I bought this Camellia a couple of years ago as a tiny plant. This is the first time she has flowered. I am delighted with her :-)

Narcissus ‘Dutch Master’

Hmmmm….think someone’s having a laugh……

Primula denticulata

I hope you enjoyed a springtime walk around my garden. Please visit again soon. And bring cake :-)

Thanks, Sid - what lovely spring flowers.

So it's your fault that the weather is cold again, is it? Fancy thinking that the sun had warmth in it when the cold wind is making my eyes water! :-(

Thanks for the nice comments folks - glad you enjoyed your visit :-) Only thing is, I've just been out there again and realised there's a load of plants I missed out, including the Magnolia stellata - now how did I miss that?!

Sorry Spritz ;-)

Debbie - go for it!

Hywel - definately! You bring cake, I'll make tea and we can sit in the summerhouse and talk about gardens and listen to the birds :-)

Really enjoyed the walk and the flowers, even though there was no cake!!
Cannot believe your Viburnum the frost saw all my flowers off, what few I had.
Very pretty camellia....they have done well in some parts of the country.
Hywel Spring is my favourite time of the year as well.

Welcome to GoY Regina! I would love to pop over to yours for a cuppa. Unfortunately, you live quite a long way away!! I see you live in Monmouth County. The County of Monmouthshire is the next county over from this one. Only problem is - wrong continent! lol
