Just a quick blog to show you the latest addition to our family.
Our daughter went into hospital for a planned caesarean operation on Wednesday 22nd December. She had had a lot of problems during her pregnancy, especially in October when she had a severe haemorrhage & had to spend a few days in hospital.
She also lost a lot of blood during the operation & had to receive 4 pints of blood. Fortunately she has recovered pretty well. At first they were going to keep her in until after Christmas but then they decided she could go home on Christmas Eve.
We went round to see her & to get to know the new baby, James. We took a few photos but because of the poor lighting they haven’t come out very well. Nevertheless, (Drumroll, please …), Here is James, together with his sister, Kirsty, (3 1/2) & me, Quico, (pronounced “kico”) which is what Kirsty calls me instead of “Granddad”:
Christmas wishes to everyone on GoY & a happy New Year 2011.
I promised to add a couple of photos that would be clearer, so here they are:
James now a week old!
His sister Kirsty!
Happy New Year 2011 to everyone.

Lovely squidgy, chubby cheeks there on James :) Nothing better than a cuddle with the grandchildren. So pleased all is well with your daughter and she got home for Christmas Day with her new son.

Thank you so much everyone for your congratulations! Yes, I'm as "Proud as Punch" with my two grandchildren! :-)) Is it so obvious? LOL!
As we will be going to see them again next Friday I will try to remember to take the digicam, I must remember also to buy some alkaline batteries for it, normal batteries don't have enough power, even more so if I'm going to be using the flash!
Perhaps I should change my avatar name to "Quico"? Perhaps the photo as well to the one where I'm sitting with my grandchildren! LOL!

Yeah, good idea.

Lovely photo! Congratulations and hope you're daughter is mending well after her productive op! When my first daughter was born my dad said he'd like to be known as 'Grandpa' but my daughter could only handle the 'pa' section of the word as she started to talk, but then doubled it up and he was forever called 'Papa' - not spoken quickly as in the Franch language, but slower - pronounced 'pah-pah.' Inventive little things aren't they! :o)

a very special present for you hope mums feeling better xxx

Congratulations Quico, so glad all went to plan in the end and baby James arrived safely. A perfect Christmas present for all :o)

The perfect present in time for Christmas! Sorry that your daughter had such a rough time, but she has done very, very well - delivering in time, and much better than some online companies have done! :-))).
Great choice of name, too (but, then, I am biased)!
Hope that you all had a fantastic Christmas! :-))

Thank you all for your kind comments. James is doing alright - bawling for his food every hour & a half it seems!
Strange how children make up names that then stick forever! My sister-in-law is called Blanqui (read the "qui" as "ki" not "qwi") & our daughter, the 1st of our 3 kids, couldn't say her name so she used to say "Pati" & that is how she is still known when we talk about her with our kids! She adores the name!
Mum seems to be getting on alright. The health visitor will take her stitches out tomorrow as she doesn't seem to have any infection. :-))
She has had to remain practically inactive for months, since the haemorrhage in October, it's extremely difficult for her as she has always been a very active person. With Kirsty she was working up till almost the day she gave birth but with James she has been off work since October.
27 Dec, 2010
When my niece Aiyana was a toddler she couldn't say "Laura." It came out as "Yodi." So now it's years and years later and I am still known as Yodi.

Best wishes you all and a Happy New Year, such a pretty granddaughter you have and congrats on little James arival love the nick name she has given you :o)))

Lovey picture of you and your grandchildren Quico. Baby James is a bonny babe and big sister Kirsty will look after him I'm sure of that, she , like yourself look so proud of him. Congratulations to all of you on your new little addition to your family.

Thank you once again for all your wonderful congratulations.
My daughter had her stitches removed yesterday - I thought it was today the nurse was going to do it. She is in a little more pain today but as she doesn't seem to have an infection I suppose it will go away in a few days.
James also seems to be doing well & his sister seems to be coping with him better than we thought! As she had been on her own for the last 3 1/2 years we thought she would be more jealous but, at the moment, till the "novelty" wears off I suppose, she doesn't seem to be jealous at all! I just hope things continue this way.

Congratulations on your new Grandson.... Happy New year ...............
29 Dec, 2010
Thats great news no infection, hope your daughter will soon be comfortable, as for the grand daughter being jealous, that only comes if her nose gets pushed out by mother and others, as its a very hard as a new baby needs the attention, so I always included the eldest to help and join in looking after baby.:o)))
29 Dec, 2010
Thanks for all your best wishes! :-)) Our daughter says she feels a little better today & the pain isn't quite as bad as yesterday. We will be seeing them on Friday evening when we go over to their place. We won't be able to stay long as my wife has to start work at 7am Saturday. Means getting up at 5am! Baby doing very well & bawling his head off for his feeds!

Congrats balcony! Hope your daughter is fully well soon....lovely grandchildren! Happy New Year! :))

I've added a couple of photos that are much clearer. Baby James is now a week old in the 2nd photo. His sister, Kirsty, didn't want to sit with us this time as I would have liked. :-(( I'd hoped to get a similar photo to the one above but she wouldn't leave her father's side till it was almost time for us to leave.
Another day perhaps.
