And the rest of the garden plants, but mainly the Fuchsias, while they are left uncared for ,but not unloved ,for the next two weeks..both water butts were full, but now empty..all plants back and front have had a good feed and watering.,which took quite some time …..
“Empress of Prussia”..and a grand old lady of twelve years.and my favourite…

Gary Rhodes..the second flowering..

A group huddle,against a North facing wall,for protection

.All cuttings are stood in a deep tray with well watered Capillary matting ..in the bottom of the shower..:o) ..we made sure we had ours first ! lol..
We will be off on our jollies, early in the morning..very early !,so I hope they are all alive when we get back.
see you in two weeks xx..

Your Fuchsias will be fine. This time of year they won't dry out so much.

Sandra: My neighbor's garage caught fire somehow over night, but the fire reached over to my side and took out my forsythia which is over 50 years old and a Leyland Cypress which I was really fond of. I'm a little upset, but they are gone and I just have to deal with it. Time to move on. :). The firefighters did an awesome job putting out the fire without anybody getting hurt - just stuff. Time to put in the past and move on.

Thank you for the tip Pamg. I will do exactly as you say. I think the top was only singed but the root stock seems ok. The Cypress? That's a goner! I'll replace that.

Good luck with the forsythia Bathgate.
Sandra that Empress of Prussia looks very like Beacon, which was my number one favourite a year or two ago (top spot goes to a different one every year, I've got no loyalty!)
Keep your fingers crossed for a bit of rain half way through your holiday - but only at home, not where you are! have a great time.

I would be upset too. But as you said "the life goes on"

Thank you Klahanie. I can't undo the fire but I see it as an opportunity to redesign my garden - try something new.

Can I comment? it is mi first time Im new in Growson and my english is very poor, but I hope your all understand it. You have beatifull fuchsias I love them, but the weather were I live is too hot for them ( south Spain) even that I manage to have them happily.
I wish you a great holidays.

Welcome to GoY Pesquera - Yes, your English is perfectly understandable so don't worry. You might have weather that is too hot for fuchsias but you can grow other lovely things which it is too cold for here.

I'm back..and thank you for all your lovely comments..Sorry to read about your fire,Paul..I'm glad you see it as an opportunity to redesign..
The Fuchsias were fine, although it looked like confetti on the patio, with all the dropped flowerheads, which had really stained the pavers..jet washer needed, and even that didn't shift them properly, but diluted bleach did :o)
The cuttings I left in the shower were great..and the matting was still a little damp after two weeks,so I will definitely do that again..Oh,and I gave them a light spray first,in case they had whitefly on them..I didn't fancy sharing the shower with any when I got back ..!.not easily seen on a white background,I should imagine..Lol..
We have had a fantastic holiday,so will post a blog and pics before long...and Paul..Happy 1st Anniversary on GoY today..:o)
