Brrrrr

I took these first three pics today, as you can see the snow has thawed somewhat, but still coming down. This is the much regretted birdbath fountain which is impossible to clean and make safe for birds.
My fantastic fatsia, I have to get the saw out occassionally to keep it in check, but it’s a wonderful tree like plant for shade.
This is my variegated trachelospermum which I can see through the window too, it’s next to Clematis Avalanche, both in pots so I can give them shelter.
These next were taken in early December when we had that pretty cold snap which transformed the dark, dirty damp weather for a while. I took them while walking the dogs over the fields.
This doesn’t do the lovely willow justice, it was stunning in real life.
I’ve included this because if you look carefully, you can see Rosie doing a handstand. I’ve no idea why, but sometimes instead of crouching, she does a gentile handstand and has been known to flip over entirely much to her embarrassment and our amusement:o)
This last one was intended to be my GOY christmas card, but I never got round to putting it on. I don’tknow how it’s come out with such a rosy glow. Meg (rough haired)has put on her sweetest expression on this.

20 Jan, 2013

Lovely blog Ba . . . and great to see your little Rosie having fun trying to do a handstand! Super "Christmas card" too.
Thick snow here, and still coming down.

Thanks both, I forgot you lived on a hill Yorky, it must be worse for you. It doesn't seem to stop snowing here, but no problems, I've decided not to worry about anything. I did wonder what that plant was Sticki, it looked amazing. I saw a bit of that program last night, but snooker is on at the moment and OH enjoys that. It was so weird hearing that strange accent that television presenters used to have then. I don't know how we'd cope if we lost power as they did, OH needs heating on day and night:-(

The winterwatch programme 1963 The Big Freeze can also be seen on youtube....watched it this morning...very good.
20 Jan, 2013
Diane mentoned the big freeze, I missed the programme but will check iplayer, its been snowing here all morning, all footprints filled up yet again and my birds have all huddled up in the hawthorn, good job I sorted all my feeders yesterday, their drink they can get from the filter on the pond as we never turn that off, good job as well as the baths all look like yours...
Lovely Photo`s Ba.....

the only thing is the pictures look a bit fuzzy on the youtube version ~ sorry.

Lovely pics BA :) You lot are getting it bad down there - if my memory serves me right, wasn't it bad last year. For a change we seem to be getting off lightly. Hope I haven't spoken too soon!
That picture of the dogs is really sweet! My wee dachshund doesn't like the snow - his 'bits' get trailed in it and it upsets him. He kinda does the hand stand thing sometimes, poor wee chap :)

Thanks Rogi and Lincs ...it's not snowing today\0/.... yet:-) Thanks Summerbee they're always posing:-) Scottish, it must be so uncomfortable for a daschund, is he a mini? Thanks Bloomer, I put it down to madness:-) Thanks Pam, you're right, they really are treasures, we were so lucky to find them:-)
21 Jan, 2013
Thanks Waddy and Sandra and Rose, I sometimes wonder if they put the 'cute' on:-) Thanks Carole, I've just been looking at your Polly tribute again, and yes ....still caused all the same emotions as the first time I saw it:-) :-(
21 Jan, 2013
Not far out there,Ba..going crazy staying in,so even worse now..might don the wellies and go for a walk.only snowing lightly now..:o).
21 Jan, 2013
How deep is it? We have about 9" here, but it's stopped snowing at last. I believe it's rather slippy as the bottom snow has frozen and compacted. Bottom snow?:-)
21 Jan, 2013
mmm.thinking about that questionable comment ! Lol... ..was underlying snow the word you were looking for ? :o)
you must have an inch more than us,Ba..and it has stopped here for the moment..changed my mind about going out..too cosy indoors..:o)
21 Jan, 2013
Underlying, that's what I meant Bloomer lol, I'm hoping to go to Walsall tomorrow if my new snow boots arrive:-)
21 Jan, 2013
Hope your trip to Walsall went off ok and you got back safely, we haven`t ventured out BA living on the top of a hill its not too clever for walking and after OH slipped on Christmas day we are taking things very leisurely.
Love how you`ve captured such sweet expressions on Rosie and megs faces.
21 Jan, 2013
Hi Phyll, no too treacherous out and my snowboots never arrived, but I got a refund as they had run out. Haha that's quite funny isn't it:-) I did read that he'd had a fall, is he ok now? I have my groceries delivered so we're all right, just very lazy time:-)
22 Jan, 2013
I love your photos. You have had a LOT of snow by the look of it.
What adorable little dogs - what do they think of the snow? I bet they are glad to get back indoors again. Rosie is one of them, what is the name of the other please?
22 Jan, 2013
Meg's the hairy one putting on the sweet expression. I don't know what I'd do without them, they're brilliant dogs. Perfect for us, but not ones for roughing it , so not keen on snow or rain. I suppose they're getting on a bit now as we've had Rosie 7 years in March and Meg 7 in november. We were told Rosie was 2-3 years when we got her and Meg 3-4, not sure they were right with their guesses though:-) I'm going to moan on this blog now 'cos it's snowing again and no sign of a thaw:-(
