Front garden Bornagain triesagain

Today we cut the lawn and tidied up the front garden. It had gone to pot over the years and this year it’s being bornagain. It never was anything special as it’s only small, but I’ve bought some plants and allowed others to grow themselves. I bought 9 plants of three different coreopsis from T&M but the snails wouldn’t leave creme brulee alone so I only have one left. The other plants apart from oenothera siskiyou have grown themselves. The Malva moschata must have lain dormant for years!
wild red poppy just showing
foreground plant supposed to be oenothera siskiyou but I think it’s too pale

Weed which I hoped was something else …oh well, where’s the spade?
coreopsis creme brulee beloved of snails and slugs
malva moschata(musk mallow) purple fennel and what I think is veronica ( not veronica but Linaria Purpurea see Wagger comment) all grew themselves and the fennel put itself right in the middle… perfect

I don't know what it looked like before but it sure looks great now. Good job tiding up and picturing it!!

Yes I agree with Gardengnome, it looks fantastic. Really lovely and colourful.

You've got some gorgeous colours in there...love the reds.

It all looks glorious - shows small is beautiful. I think the 'veronica' might be linaria purpurea, pops up in my front garden too.

Yes it is Wagger, I couldn't remember when I was doing this blog (still find it stressful) and tried to think of purple spike and could only think of veronica. I knew someone would help me :-)) Thanks Gardeng, Samba & Fluff, I was rather pleased with the coreopsis, hope it will stay a few years. I always end up with less formal plants, though I do admire those very neat bedding displays I think I'm a lazy gardener :-))

I much prefer 'informal' - bedding displays look too 'council park' to me.

I agree Wagger...my mum used to call it 'municipal planting'...marigold, salvia, marigold, salvia in perfect uniformity...looks fab in those huge town flower beds but I love a mish-mash of planting like Bornagain's.

You missed out the lobelia and alyssum, Fluff, lol.

I must change name to linaria purpurea on photo, it helped fill some gaps and I rather like it and it's free, what more could you want? I do rather like the way this corner looks now and most of it is accidental:-) Thanks everyone:-)
