Plant Fair

Long time since I did a blog, but today I went to a Specialists Plant Fair at Braemar House near Fordingbridge in Hampshire. The wind was back with a vengeance, so it was a bit cold, but I did manage to buy a few plants. Thought you may be interested in what I bought, so here are a few pictures.
I also bought a few Begonias that were on offer at Buy Three and get three free, so bought six of those, meaning I now have 12 Begonias to plant up ! All I want now is some lovely warm weather.
As you can see, most of these are for the Alpine garden or rock

Sedum spathulifolium Purpureum

Armeria, no label for this.

Androsace sempervivoides

Thlapsi montanum

Fuchsia Pattie Sue. I thought this would make a nice standard.

Close up of the Fuchsia.

Heucherella Yellowstone Falls, a trailing variety.

all brilliant buys Cinders. I'm saving myself for Harrogate in a couple of weeks time.

that fuchsia will do well as a standard I reckon.

Yes I think it will, and will take some cuttings too. Hope you enjoy yourself at Harrogate. It goes without saying really doesnt it. Perhaps next year. I shall probably be going to Malvern next month, there is a coach party going from our village.

A really good selection Cinders, and all good size plants, have you ever divided or taking cuttings from Armeria? ours get very large and then open out and look horrid.

No I haven't had Armeria before DD, but I will remember what you say and do that later. They were all much cheaper at the Plant Fair than the Garden Centres.

Plant Fairs are definitely the best way for someone starting on a new garden to begin. You can set them out, stand back and know they are in the right place.

Sorry to hear it was really too cold to be much fun Cinders, but your purchases are great. some very nice plants there! I think my plug plant begonias in the greenhouse are dead. :(

Thank you Hb. I shall be interested to see your standard Fuchsia too.

Diane they were definitely much cheaper at the Plant Fair. But my garden is not a new one, and I have to find room for most things, but the rockery is fairly new, so most of these plants will go on there.

O Karen, sorry to hear you have lost your Begonia plugs, such a shame, I suppose it is still a little early for them. Glad you like my choices of plants.

Thank you Carole, they are good size plants aren't they for the money I paid.

Thanks Janey, I am looking forward to seeing them grow.

Thanks Shirley, glad you approve. Its raining here today so may have to leave the planting for a day or two. Give me more time to decide where they are going.

Rain started in the early hours of this morning here ... how I wish the sky was blue again! We did manage to cut and edge the lawns at Mums yesterday, so mission accomplished ... :o)

Thank you Louisa. It was such a lovely day the previous day with no wind, I thought it would turn out the same on Plant Fair day. How wrong can you be. But I enjoyed it, just didnt stay as long.
