Colour in my Garden

I thought it about time I contributed to these pages, but when I took the camera out most of the pretty coloured leaves have been blown off and the garden looks a mess really. I have been a little under the weather so haven’t managed to keep it very tidy of leaves, but have a couple of roses and lots of Heuchera of course giving me some colour, so here goes, I will show you those. Hope you are all well.

No name for this, just a £1 bargain

Lots of colour Cinders. I have just split the seedling of Georgia Peach you sent me, into four large plants. Hard to imagine that it arrived in a small envelope now! I must buy 'Lime Ricky' :o))))

Thanks Waddy, have to say I am in the thick of a nasty cold and cough, so not doing much at the moment, but it should start to improve soon I hope. Thanks for asking.

Lovely colour Cinders - those heucheras still looking great.
What ever did you decide to do with your Acer?
Hope your feeling 100% soon :)

2 Nov, 2012

Thanks Scottish. I have put the acer in a pot and took it in to the cold greenhouse. I am nervous of leaving it outside this year as I have lost them before over winter.

Forgot to say Cinders....in answer to your question. Cold and wet, then milder and sunny. Got a lot of tidying up done outside. :)

Gorgeous colours you have love the Marmalade

Lovely colours! I'm a recent fan of Heucheras and, at the moment, only have Silver Scrolls, Mahogany and Melting Fire, but I'm beginning a desire for something like your Lime Ricky to shine out in the depths of winter! :o)

Thanks Sixpence,

Thank you Nariz. I don't think you can go wrong with Heuchera. No trouble, and colour all year. Lime Ricky does brighten up the scene very well too.

3 Nov, 2012

Heuchera all looking good Cinders. Hope you are recovering from your bout of feeling unwell, and can get out and tend your lovely garden.

Thank you Dorjac and Sheila. I am feeling much better today and have been out shopping and also been out in the garden and planted a few bulbs. Thanks for nice comments.

Glad to hear your feeling a little better Cinders, I`m waiting for my bare root rose `compassion` to come from DAustin hope it gets to look as good as yours.

3 Nov, 2012

Thanks Stroller, I am sure yours will be lovely too. Its a good performer I find.

Lovely pics Cinders, how do you get your heucheras to self seed?!!! Mine never have:-)

3 Nov, 2012

Hi Ba. They don't usually seed on their own, I take the seed from the flower heads and scatter on some compost and do it that way. At least I used to, but I got so many and they didnt all come true to the parent. I ended up with so many I couldnt just throw them away, so have stopped doing that now, but occasionally I have found a little one struggling near the parent, and then I pot it up of course, but mostly now I take a cutting from the parent plant.

Hello San, thanks. Its been a rubbish year really hasnt it. Never mind, look forward to next spring now.

4 Nov, 2012

Your Heucheras always look so good and certainly add colour to the garden at this time of the year, sorry to hear you have been poorly, hope all is well with you now Cinders.....

4 Nov, 2012

Hope you're feeling better soon Cinders. Your Heucheras are looking so lovely, every time i see them on blogs and photos i want them, got a list as long as my arm for next spring, just hope our GC s have a good selection! or will probably try plantagogo if not. Got Palace purple for a £1 at a nursery bargain.:))))

5 Nov, 2012

Thanks DD. I haven't been able to get out in the garden to tidy up much this last week or so, but improving every day thankfully - there are so many leaves now to clear.

5 Nov, 2012

Thanks for your kind comments Gralew. You may be able to pick hold of one or two Heuchera's at the GC at the moment, but might be better to wait till the spring now. I always think you need one or two light coloured ones to show the darker ones up. Plantagogo are good.

5 Nov, 2012

Thanks Cinders, yes I like the lighter ones, marmalade is one of my faves, and licorice is another. Definatley hooked on them, also like lime ricky. Will keep looking, but i think you're right spring better :)

5 Nov, 2012

Isn't it lovely to still have some colour in the garden in early November? Your Heucheras alway look so lush and healthy Cinders ... I hope you are on the mend now ... :o)

5 Nov, 2012

Feeling much better thanks Shirley. Not much colour apart from the Heuchera now, in my garden at any rate.

5 Nov, 2012

Such a strange weather pattern this year, Cinders ... I currently have Lavender in flower in the front garden and even a Red Hot Poker bud trying to bloom! ... Very strange! ... Pleased you are feeling better now ... :o)
