I wondered if you would like to see some of my new Streptocarpus. I didn’t have a very good year with my propogation last year so decided to treat myself to some new ones. They are all coming into flower now and I am very pleased with them so far. I will start with a couple of my older ones as they are doing well. Hope you enjoy them.

A lovely collection. I like them because they come in such pretty colours.
Any helpful tips on keeping them alive please?!!

They are all lovely Cinders, its a plant that I have never tried to grow, always thought they would be rather difficult and time consuming.

Thank you Wildrose. The main thing is not to leave them standing in water. Just give them enough that they can drink it up but not to leave any in the saucer. If you overwater they will die. The leaves will droop also when they need a drink, so you just have to learn when that is. Don't leave in full sun. Hope that helps.

Thanks Stroller. Not difficult really once you know how to treat them.

They are lovely plants aren't they? It's difficult to decide which one you like best! OH and I went to Dibley's in North Wales, while on holiday last year. I couldn't decide which to bring home... Decided on Harlequin Blue as she goes well with the colouring in the front room... :D

You have a lovely collection.... lovely colours.. :)))

Oh Petal, I went there as well many years ago, would love to go back again. But there are so many to choose from aren't there. Harlequin Blue is lovely. I got some of mine this year from the British Streptocarpus Society, of which I am a member, and there were some good offers, and a few different from Dibleys selection.
Thanks Holly, yes there are some lovely colours out now.

Hi Poppy, there are a few different ones on that site, worth taking a look. Its not expensive to join it and you get newsletters and help, plus free seeds if you want to try that. I had a terrible year last year for getting baby ones to grow, but this year they are growing for me, so don't know what went wrong last year.

Beautiful as usual......mine are doing a bit better this year.....fingers crossed :-))

Many thanks all of you, Amblealice, Wildrose, Floralhead and Hywel. I'm pleased you like my Streps.
Alice it was a bad year for me last year too. Hopefully better this time around.
Hywel, I can't make up my mind about Prunella. Its certainly different.

Love these plants, I bought three plug plants at this year's Harrogate Spring Flower Show. I have potted them on and so far they seem happy. Do you think they will flower this year, they look so small. They remind me of african violets, similar leaf texture, range of flower shapes and colours but seem to be easier to grow and propagate.

Hello Xela, yes I think you will get flowers on your little plug plants this year. I bought some at the Malvern Show and they have buds on, in fact one of them is out in flower, so definitely you should get flowers on yours very soon. Obviously they will be better next year, just don't leave them standing in water as that will kill them.

"It's certainly different"
I think that's why I like it the most :o)
