The importance of light

About 3 weeks ago these Petunias were all the same size plugs when I repotted them.
The large ones were on the top shelf in direct light and are now much bigger than the smaller ones which were lower down and had less direct light since repotting.

I have noticed this too Drc as I have staging in my window and those plants higher up do much better;0)

Oh yes it makes a lot of difference, I`m forever moving the trays around in my g`house to try and give them the light as they are growing, if I didn`t some would end up being quite leggy, I had to pull the end shade across this week to save mine from being scorched in the sun, today it was so dull and grey I tied it back again to allow the light back in...

I do feel for you Stickitoffee as the one benefit from the trees we lost in the storm is the amount of light we now have on the second patio area and those plants are doing so much better.

Certainly will make me more careful about the amount of light reaching seedlings in the future.

It's an interesting point. I am very limited with space in full sun, though.

That's a huge difference. No wonder my garden doesn't do so well!
Perhaps I should take photos like these to the council who own the trees behind our garden. There are several hollies and a lot of ivy!
