2-3 weeks ago I saw the Tardis parked in Hastings shopping centre and wondered if the Doctor ‘was in’ LOL.
Well he is still around as yesterday I met the Time Lord in my local Garden Centre. Tom Baker who was the 4th Doctor Who, in the 70’s until 1984.
My sons reaction when I told him I had shaken Doctor Who’s hand was ‘is his voice still booming’? I have to admit that perhaps Time lords do exists as he is 80 now but still has that lovely curly hair and so much of it and looks so unchanged somehow.
Such a gentleman he lives near us but I never expected to meet him. I felt quite taken back in time remembering my 2 younger brothers watching it memories can be such nice things sometimes.

It must have been nice for you to meet a Dr Who.
The one I remember is William Hartnell. He was the first one in the early 60s.
I've never met anyone famous in my life.

My children had their pic taken with Charlie and Tommy in our local GC. I tried to push my way in to the pic, but they kicked me out! ;) That must be about....13 years ago now! Apart from that, I've never met anybody famous in a GC. Lots of stars at Chelsea of course....but seen, rather than met. Mind you, The real star of Chelsea for me is Andy McIndoe from Hilliers, and he'll chat with anyone...even me!

I was doing an interview with Mike Read earlier today - he was a DJ on Radio 1 back in the 70s and 80s. Now works for BBC Radio Berkshire

I bumped into Alan Titchmarsh at B&Q and apologised to him - it was a full size cardboard cutout - he just kept on smiling!!! Irish and I had a laugh about it in a pm on here a few years ago! Your in the flesh experience sounds much more fun :o)

Lol...I'm sure you're not the only one to fall in to that trap Neelan!!

Many years ago, my sister had a life-size cut-out of Captain Kirk in her lounge. Not much else to say about that, really...

Lol...no...except she would be the envy of the lads in The Big Bang Theory!

Karen - did you see the episode where Penny gave Sheldon a Christmas present - a napkin from the restaurant used by Leonard Nimoy? Probably my favourite one
24 Jan, 2014
Yes, I've seen that one Andrew. :) I hated the programme at first, but when I actually sat down and started watching I realised how funny it is, and now I love it. I love all the episodes with Sheldon's Mother in!

I also saw Tom Baker in a garden centre in hastings about 2 years ago.

I specifically asked Tom not to 'borrow' my e-shed again and what do I find?
He's painted it blue, again, then bunged a light on the roof. Sigh.
Did he say when he'll return it, only I need to check on my seedlings and he can be so scatty at times, Drc? Lol.

Nice one Drc. I met Percy Thrower in Tesco's @ St. Leonards once he was book signing, I asked him some advice about our plum tree and he signed my diary (all I could find in my bag at the time) for me. :)

I've never met anyone famous in a garden centre but Mick Jagger did tread on my foot near Holborn tube station many years ago as he (and the others) hailed a taxi :)
25 Jan, 2014
Dear Percy Thrower I use to like his Progs. How long before you washed your foot Gee?
25 Jan, 2014
And did you get satisfaction, Gee? ;-)
25 Jan, 2014
All I got was a sore toe and dirt on my shoes, Mouldy. I wasn't a fan, Drc, but it did impress my work colleagues at the time :)
26 Jan, 2014
Oh, wash your mouth out, Gee! Lol.

The only famous person I actually met was many moons ago when the programme called" Have A Go" was on the radio, it was broadcast from Stamford and Wilfred Pickles and Mabel, the lady who played the piano came to visit our school, we had a quiz in the assembly hall and I answered one of the questions correctly, I won 2s6d,( which to me at that time was a fortune ) I had to go on stage in front of the whole school to receive my prize and he shook my hand, I was frightened to death and thrilled all at the same time, I can still hear Wilfred saying, " Give her the money Mabel"LOL....

Gosh Lincs ,that has jogged my memory ! I too won some money from Wilf when they visited our primary school and I felt exactly the same as you when I had to go up on the stage and collect my winnings..thanks for the memory :-)

Only just noticed this thread
Two people , Cliff Richard in a garden center by my mums I was taking her out for lunch , my mum wasn't going to say anything , but I said hello and he had a chat about which rose he wanted to buy and what did we think I told him he could have the one named after him which he laughed about he told us he" had enough of those already lol all free" , other people walking past looking it was funny but he was very pleasant.
The other one was Carol Klein at a garden Center in Devon , she is so down to earth.
