A friend returns :)

This afternoon I went to tidy the shelter where my Fuchsias are,
and as I was moving things around, I heard a noise coming from under one of the stagings.

When I looked, I saw my friend, the toad … who I haven’t seen for about 3 years :)
He/she has returned and was trying to hide under some flower pots :)

So not to frighten him/her any more, I left the tidying, and decided to do it another time :)

Probably been around all the time I shouldn't wonder. There are so many places a toad can hide around here.

Or maybe it's a different toad altogether ... who knows ?

I have quite a few frogs in the garden, but I've never seen a toad here. I should think they are very good at pest control!

Great stuff Hywel - you must have been so pleased! We have a few toads but hardly ever see them - usually only if we move something that was being used as a hidey hole. You'll have to have a stern work with yours about the deliiciousness of slugs...

Thats wonderful Hywel the toad returning. Always check under any pots, one year I found a toad underneath a pot that was upside down a clay pot at that it had lunch a snail? right be side it lol.

Maybe we would all be more free of slugs if we put several
terra cotta pots upside down, around shady places in the garden.

Thats great news Hywel, I have one that lives in my logpile in the cubby, obviously I'm also not sure whether its the same one but been there a few years now, the frogs don't seem to be about much this year but think thats probably because they're keeping away from Toffee....

I have a frog that likes to leap out at me and give me quite a fright occaisionally. I'd like more to keep the slugs down but I've only ever seen one!

Not silly at all. I am a lot better than I used to be, but I am still very wary of all sorts of things in the garden. And I cannot squash things. I relocate them. I know it's ridiculous - they just make their way back to their original position. But, there you go!
